How can this game not have built in voice chat?

Seriously though, while I can understand some of the reasons why, I really do not see the point of including a feature such as this. The claim that it's due to different cultures or people who don't use voice chat, it's not like you'd suddenly have a gun to your head demanding you use it. It would be a very handy feature for running Dungeons out of Duty Finder and could easily be turned off if your party turns out to be a troll-fest. I think with FFXIV being on multiple platforms is a big reason this should have been considered as an optional feature.

The "official" reason given to us a while back was that the director was afraid people who didn't want to use voice chat may be forced to using it when they don't want to. Which imo is a stupid reason, lol. Why not give us an optional feature because a few people are too afraid to simply say "no" when asked to use it? Or lie and say they don't have a mic.

There are people who dont want to be on voice chat 24/7, there are even no-voice FCs (and optional vioce FCs). I know that because I am in one. Guess this is implemented and what might happen then. "Activate voice or kick" is not improving random partys.

Like I said...nobody can force anybody to use it. Don't want to voice chat? Just tell people you don't want to or lie and say you don't have a mic. Or just don't join parties requiring it. You can even make your own party. Seems silly to not implement a feature because people are too shy to speak up or do things on their own (make their own pt) lol.

1. square doesn't want to force it on people(as stated earlier, some people will attempt to force people that don't want to use it, into using it), 2. text chat abuse will be supplemented by vocal abuse, 3. There would be a massive amount of background noise from people that don't know how to set up their mic properly(forcing people to mute that guy, who then in turn talks to himself and gets pissed off because he's being ignored, and would then come to the forums to bitch about it), 4. there would be more trolling in VC then there would be proper use of it, 5. people who are like me don't want to hear stupid stoners using bongs and thinking they're cool because they smoke weed(yes, there are people that cannot stand it when people do this), 6. drunk people, 7. people that cannot hear(deaf) cannot utilize the feature and are thus kicked, or left alone, or are singled out because of their disability(they already have enough issue with people requiring 3rd party VC, do we really need to make them feel left out even more), 8. cost, 9. its more BS that people will cry about on the forums when there is no valid reason for the whining(assuming that you are entitled to something is no ta valid reason), etc.

There are more reasons to not use a built in VC then there are to use it. Using DCUO, which i have played and i regret ever playing, is not a standard which to compare anything to. I've never played WoW, but from what i understand, it has no built in VC, and its really the only MMORPG you can properly compare this game to.

Being cross platform has no baring on a VC server. If you think it being cross platform makes it impossible for a VC server to exist in the game for them, then how did they make it possible for us all to play together. VC servers are no where near as demanding as the game server.

actually hate to say this but this is a fair point. Practically most fc's doing coil now have a requirement to have access to teamspeak or the like.
PS3/PS4 have the ability to use a chat system in a game and if there was a universal one in game it would bring both platforms together and removing the need for 3rd party chat programs.

however one thing only in dungeons/raids and give the ability to mute or disable mic if you don't want to talk etc.
