Can something be done about disconnect from server

Just got booted out the game twice within 30 minutes and not going to bother logging back in right now, it doesn't seem to be a good time.

Would it not be possible, instead of kicking people from the game with the 90k error, to just freeze your character movement for a moment and attempt to reconnect automatically??

Should keep the area loaded in and not get sent back to the title screen. This could make the game so much more tolerable.

Actually it does try to reconnect if there's a blip in your connection you just don't notice it as easily in this game. In FFXI the send/receive numbers are constantly visible onscreen. In FFXIV they only appear if you mouse over the connection icon. You'll R0 usually well before you completely disconnect and you'll notice that gameplay seems to stop for a bit. A hard disconnect that seems instantaneous is likely a loss of upload data from you to the server as opposed to no longer receiving data from the server. You're still getting the data from the server so the game seems to be working fine when in reality the server is getting nothing back from you. It waits for a few seconds to see if it gets data from you then terminates your session.

Couldn't it just freeze everything at that point and wait for connection to be re-established instead of sending you back to the title screen? Then we wouldn't need to select our character again and reload the area we were in. It would be a world of difference to the experience.

I used to be Tech support can I make some suggestions? Keep in mind, I'm not responsible for anything neither is Sqaure.
So are you hard wired in or Wi-Fi? Positive you have no other connections?
Try unplugging your router or modem for a minute?
Make sure there are no other connections stealing your bandwidth.
If possible try to be hard wired.
Call your internet service provider, tell them your having problems with your connection and you would like a credit.
Ask your ISP if they offer any higher speed connections.

Demmand your ISP come out and fix your problem, test your connection.
If all else fails, change ISPs.

I guess I would be in that category since I am using a wired, high-speed connection which nobody else is using, so on paper it should be fine.

Everything was perfect for the first bunch of months after the game launched. Not only did I never get disconnected, I also never had lag, ever.

Assumed it was a game issue, as this is mainly since v2.2 launch. At the moment I have daily disconnects which doesn't help other players when I am tanking a boss and I disappear.

I believe it's the game/server side. After the newest patch I've had random 90k's also that has only affected the game. Never had this problem before and nothing else seems to be affected.

Changing ISP's as previously stated most likely won't fix the situation.

There's a certain number of 'hops' you have to do to go from

Computer (Yours) > Modem/Router > Wall Outlet > (Assuming this is like BT here in the UK, after the wall outlet it's BT's property NOT yours so it's their responsibility, anything INTO the wall outlet is YOURS both cables and hardware) Interior/Exterior Cabling > Surface/Underground Cabling Network > Local Exchange > Next Appropriate connection "Hops" between countries/states > Montreal Canada > Local Montreal Exchanges > SE NA/EU Datacentre.

If any one of those hops in between causes a substantial issue you'll be effected, it's like playing pass the parcel in a big circle and one or two people pass out half way through.

    However!

There's always the possibility there was a slight server crash for your particular instance/situation or action. (Specific actions have been known to unexpectedly hang the server) Each patch has featured an update of a least 1-2 kinds in this regard.

There were reports of issues for USA users after recent patches and a degregation in performance and stability and that they'd try and find the root cause for those (if any) who are affected.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER, it's not always their fault, almost every single time an issue like this occurs it's someone between You > Server > You and the connections/hardware in between that's caused an issue, which can happen from time to time.

Change ISP. I may have dropped 1 in the last 3 months. with about 20 hours of game play a week.

    Edit
there was 2 other times but they where power outages which I don't fault SE for.
