Fair enough. I'd have to agree with that. The weird transition is especially noticeable when walking around Limsa Lominsa. I hope they can fix it.Yeah, and I don't want to derail this thread about climbing, but the low-res texture issue is really annoying. Even when you turn up ALL the settings and background drawing detail, it's still an issue (and not many people can turn up setting to max anyways).
It shouldn't be such a sharp change between high and low res textures. If it was a gradual change, nobody would think anything of it.
In any event, I'd still like climbing to be a part of the game.![]()
Some kind of platforming would be cool, and fairly unique for this type of game. However, something like climbing ladders would break flow i think (I'm thinking of both FFXI and Vindictus here), everything sloooows down when you were excitedly making your way through the area before. It would be awesome to have some scenic points you get to with skillful platforming though.
As well as scenic points, skillful platforming can be useful for treasure-hunting if SE decide to re-implement this feature from FFXI.Some kind of platforming would be cool, and fairly unique for this type of game. What are you going to do with FFXIV... -.-
Honestly if it's climbing, i'd take a context sensitive climbing action for sheer cliff surfaces. Jump option is nice too, but nothing like Attohwa Chasm style cliffs.

Actually this is excellent, because they could theoretically get the guys from Crystal Dynamics to help them out with the climbing aspects if they do in fact want to implement it.
Heh, Give an inch take a mile in action folks.
