I think the low res textures in the distance pretty much ruin the types of views your talking about. Idk how they did the backgrounds in FFXIII, but why can't we have backgrounds like that?Truth be told, after Yoshida made that post a couple of players voiced opposition to the idea of being able climb up walls, etc. So an hour later (but only about 3 posts down in the same thread) he said he was torn about how far he could take the idea. He asked the players in the thread to voice there opinion regarding what they'd like to see. As such, I think this thread is very appropriate.
Personally, I would love to see an Eorzea where there are mountains that can be climbed leading to spectacular views. Naturally, I wouldn't expect to be able to climb anything and everything, but I'd love a more dynamic world where secret locations lay in wait for those who scaled dangerous cliffs.
Yeah, and I don't want to derail this thread about climbing, but the low-res texture issue is really annoying. Even when you turn up ALL the settings and background drawing detail, it's still an issue (and not many people can turn up setting to max anyways).
It shouldn't be such a sharp change between high and low res textures. If it was a gradual change, nobody would think anything of it.

Fair enough. I'd have to agree with that. The weird transition is especially noticeable when walking around Limsa Lominsa. I hope they can fix it.Yeah, and I don't want to derail this thread about climbing, but the low-res texture issue is really annoying. In any event, I'd still like climbing to be a part of the game.![]()
