If there were one thing that would make me quit this game

It would be the gil spammers and SE's inability to effectively make it less obtrusive.

I have to tediously remove more than a dozen blacklisted names every day just so I can add more gil spammers to it. Is thaat the vision SE had when they implemented the blacklist? Someone in an office said "hey, i bet we're gonna get gil spammers, we should make our users block them manually by implemented a blacklist feature"!

I doubt it, I cant use the blacklist as intended to stop communications with someone I don't like, I'm too busy getting whispers and /tell from spammers I could care less about.

Absolute agree though wouldn't make me quit the game over it, but it really is the most annoying thing in game, having to regularly clear out the black list to add more ajdbruwhdn whneua names (not naming and shaming, just hitting random letters like the spammers seem to do)
I also wish it was account wide, logging in to an alt to then be bombarded with spam from those I just blocked on another character is even more annoying.
Staring at my blacklist actually hurts my eyes as it's all random letters.

I completely agree.

I mean, if you haven't played since launch, it was actually *much worse* back then.

It was so bad, RMT would use /shout and /yell in cities and almost every zone. You literally could not read anything unless you had those two communications turned off. The ironic thing was, you couldn't even read the RMT's spam, cause they would compete with each other, causing a massive, fast scrolling constant text. You couldn't read *anything*.

SE has managed to get rid of those. I don't know how they did that, but RMT are afraid to do that now. That's the reason for the tells I think.

So, SE has made some progress, and they do ban a lot of RMT, but unfortunately, in the countries that RMT hail from, the money is just too good for them to resist. It's probably like 10x their normal wage in their country sadly. So they just keep coming back like cockroaches. :/

heres my .02 on the matter. just ignore them. Does it really bother you that much? I could be wrong but on Goblin the spam really isn't that bad. at launch, yes it was atrocious, but IMO its really not that bad.

I agree it's getting bad again at least on leviathan in gridania there is usually someone shouting then at least 2-3 tells an hour even with blacklisting. It's getting out of hand and. Don't see why SE won't write a bot to autoban a character that sends it a tell the. Put it in like an inn room with an FC so no one has a reason to send it tells to avoid hitting innocent players. Took people 6hrs after launch to write bots to harvest ow hard could it be.

Our server must have the most gil buyers out of any Durad. The gil spam doesn't stop it's beyond tuurrrrible. I have a friend that transferred from another server and said ours is really bad. Add that to FC spams, run seller spams, and crafting spams, it gets really annoying.

ok and now that this is done how does one communicate privately with friends or those looking for assistance (I tend to send tells to those who ask questions in shout) and while I no longer receive tells I guess I have to remove shout from my chat window and avoid going anywhere near the gridania aetheryte plaza to avoid /say or I can remove that to and what the hell why not just remove all chat functions and log off and go play a single player game instead cause who needs to communicate and socialize... how about an actual solution to the problem and not some "fix" that prevents actually enjoying playing an MMO cause if I was just here to play solo in everything and not chat I would rather play a well made single player game.
