Monk on kegacy controls, how much dps is lost

I use a gamepad and have gotten back into monk, just messing around as an alt. I try to play every class the best I can though, and recently read about how legacy controls cause you to miss out on auto attacks.

Has anyone done any extensive testing on this? Will it be a significant dps loss? I still see plenty of auto attacks go off. And my dps is pretty good in comparison to people who main the class, but Im just wondering if I could potentially be doing a lot more if I switched controls.

I guess I could give the lock on target a shot tomorrow, but I haven't used that feature in months because its always been pretty poor in my experience. I can barely see the ground so god forbid an AOE pops. But Ill see if it works out tomorrow. If the dps loss isn't substantial, I won't worry about it though because I just play monk for fun, but you never know, I may need to sub for someone in the fc for t6+ at some point so it would be good to know.

Just use target lock & master when to unlock to avoid certain attacks and problem solved no dps loss. That or change your control settings.

not at all. probably around 5-10 dps difference between ccharacter being locked facing target and legacy (with face target on skill cast turned on).

Not a huge deal but try to minimize the time you are not facing the monster.

so from what i gathered from your statement; legacy does more dps than lock on does. would standard do more damage than legacy controls as well? i can do the lock on, but standard controls are out of the question lol i tried it today and it was terrible because I'm so used to legacy.

Considering auto-attack is 30% of my damage on MNK and I use Legacy controls..I don't think there's a problem?

i use legacy control but i rebinded my A and D to strafe left and strafe right, respectively. so when i move from flank to rear and back, i'm still facing at the boss.

    This x10.

A & D by default are "Move Left" and "Move Right".

Changing them to "Strafe Left" and "Strafe Right" make them the same as regular controls. That way, you're always facing the boss.

Wish I could do that on PS4 lol - Kinda sucks when I know I am missing an auto attack while changing positioning...

As an i94 MNK its rare that I am not topping DPS versus any other class under i99, but I know I'm missing some damage here and there.

Try getting a weapon with a delay close to your GCD. That way every time you do a weapon skill you do an auto-attack with it (assuming face target settings are active).
