Everyone and their mother do SAC runs, I personally dislike doing them simply because sometimes it is just a little wonky for me. I'm not AGAINST them happening, I just prefer not doing them, I am more than happy to let the other tank do so if he wants.

However, I have seen entire runs shut down because a SAC run didn't go as planned, and the time spent actually trying to get it right could have been solved with...you know, just gathering the mobs up and burning them down.

I'm new to the whole 'coil' thing, so this kind of mentality is incredibly odd for me. Why is there so many salty 'taters over a run that could be solved by just doing it the normal way when it really only adds a minute or two if your group is geared really well, are people THAT impatient? It's not like Turn 1 is that long anyway.
