    [dev1033] Job System mechanics

    hello all,

I searched for the dev tag and other job related stuff but didn't really come across anything concrete.

I think the information on the job system has been rather vague, me and my friends are still not really sure what it is all about or how they will integrate with classes. As far as I know it will 'specialise' classes into more traditional roles, such as Tank/DD/healer/CC etc. is that as much information as has been released?

Also I am sure I read it was coming in 1.18.

Sorry if I am just being dense, but if anyone could help clear any of those points up I'd appreciate it

I think the only thing we know is that, (A.) Jobs are party oriented versions of classes, (B.) each class can unlock one job, example, GLA-->PLD, (C.) upon reaching a specific rank you will have to do a quest to unlock the job. And (D.) There are no levels for the jobs, but instead they mirror the rank of your class.

It's kinda unknown about allot of the stuff involving jobs, we will just have to wait for some more dev posts on it.

As far as it being in 1.18, it will not. They said post 1.20. Hopefully before or around SEP. is when we will see them.

I don't think they have said that each class can only open one job in the long haul. I think they have said that initially a class can only open one job. To me that implied that maybe at first a job like Lancer might be limited to only opening Dragoon for example. But down the road they may add, say Chocobo Knight as a Lancer job. And at that point a Lancer could possibly have the choice to open either Dragoon or Chocobo Knight or may could do the quests for both and have both choices.

The reason why this would be beneficial is to have more variety based on available players and needs for a raid. Take Gladiator for example. If Glad opened jobs like Paladin and opened a damage class, let's just call it Knight, then player using Glad could switch to either Paladin (tank) or Knight (fighter) depending on the needs of the raid.

Who knows though. All guesses at this point. Hope we see multiple choices for jobs though.

Yea, Initially it's just one job per class. But I'm sure we will see a variety of jobs per class.
