well you can always put the items on sale on the retainer for outrageous prices so nobody buys them....that's is of course unless your retainers are always at their item cap for sells.
I'd free up over two pages of retainer space if they'd give us a bloody tackle box already! ; ;
Glamours have turned my retainers into glorified closets (that go out on adventures and steal from peoples' houses). Can we have a vanity locker, perhaps?![]()
Already ingame
Sell every item you can buy from a NPC (you can check at http://xivdb.com/ if an item get sell from a NPC).
Sell every item you can buy in the MB fo less than 1k gil
Buy it if you need it. This way you increase your inventory space using gil (and make some sellers happy).
This would be nice
Maybe a big closet as a housing furniture

The plan of storing only items you're going to want soon and can't easily re-obtain, while selling off everything else, would indeed cut down on how much storage space you need by a great deal.
Unfortunately, it also means every time you get an item, you need to research the item's value. Can it be gathered? Can it be purchased? Where? For how much? What recipes need it directly? What recipes need it indirectly for one of their intermediate ingredients? Am I going to want any of those items any time soon? Do any leves or GC supply missions ask for any of those items? ...
Sure, if you're willing to spend twice as much time on inventory management as you spend actually playing the game, you could check all that and pare down your inventory to just the most useful items. But for people who don't want to devote the majority of their game to inventory, it has to be a much shorter set of questions, something like:
Is it a crafting ingredient? Yes. Do you do any crafting? Yes. --> Keep.
And that makes you run out of space fast.
Working as intended.
Pay the monthly $4 fee or DROWN in your sorrows!
On the bright side, you get a "pay to win" advantage from having more retainers than the default two.

I have two extra retainers, I have 0 inventory problems, all for less than I spend on one meal a month. There is no reason that people who try to make the most out of all the classes this game throws at us should have to pay more money per month.
With all crafting and gathering classes and a good chunk of the battle classes leveled, I can keep an extremely minimal stock of base mats for each class and still not have nearly enough space for fishing tackle, a handful of vanity gear/weapons, foods/pots and other day to day items without picking and pruning items out of my inventory trying to make space for everyday tasks(increasing the traffic to their "storage servers".
I understand that it takes up some storage server traffic, but expecting us to pay 25% more a month to play than everyone else is a slap to the face.
Having extra retainers be rewards for 3 and 6-month subs... that would be cool.
Making a "long term storage" that could only be accessed on a timer (once per 8 hours) would also help their traffic costs.
Having an extremely grindy mission that required you to level all of the non-battle classes and attain a legendary main hand in one of them to unlock more retainers (1 for DoL, 1 for DoH) would limit the extra traffic to those that really need it.
Instead they just stuck their hands out asking for more money.
If you got inventory problems I feel bad for you son, #igot99problemsbutinventoryspaceaintone
Back on my day retainers didn't exist. Neither did all this inventory spaceMy bags are full, my retainers are full. If I do housecleaning to get more space I always end up with that free space being filled in less than a day
Please. Give me an option to increase inventory space using in-game Gil. And please, give us a way to check what's in our retainers bags without having to dig through each and every one of them.
Back in my day, you could acquire more inventory storage space with the in-game currency, especially when the game you played was SUBSCRIPTION BASED.
But them days be long goooooone.. nowadays you expect to get nickled and dimed for almost anything.

Alright, but the HM primals are very easy to kill with a skilled group and there's nothing stopping you from going back and farming those weapons again when SE does implement the thing that requires them.
