Ala Mhigo "After 2.0 story"

All talk has been about Ishgard when it comes to new City-State but seem most people have forgotten Ala Mhigo being the 2nd new City State we will have access to in post 1st expansion time frame.

I would enjoy some info on Ala Mhigo condition post 2.0 story now that...

The Castrum blocking the path to Ala Mhigo is no longer under Garlean Control since the Castrum has successfully been taken by the adders and Sylph forces at the end of 2.0 story during Operation Archon.

Some info would be nice like the refugees in Little Ala Mhigo preparing to return to Ala Mhigo or representatives of Ala Mhigo coming to ask for some aid which will open up some of Ala Mhigo area through a Major Update but not the City-State so they can gradually build up to Ala Mhigo opening to adventurers.

I'm surprised to see this outside of the lore section! My man, you are awesome for bringing this up. Lore development is a sometimes forgotten thing with SE in the mix of things lately, except that we will be getting a major Amdapor Keep lore update with 2.2. I agree and I'd love to hear more about Ala Mhigo and see what direction they can take it in for us players.

Wait, they did that during Operation Archon?
As far as I know all that they did was march in a diversionary troop to stall any coming reinforcements so that you might strike Castrum Marinum and Meridianum without interference.

Did they somehow take back Ala'Mhigo during the operation? I require clearer proof.

Can't really place this as only lore since if something releated to Ala higo is released it will be more than just Lore content.

We may start seeing hints on things to expect in Ala Mhigo like what Class Guilds are located in Ala Mhigo and what kind of Beast Tribes are in Ala Mhigo area which would introduce a new Beast Tribe to the game.

The thing about Ala Mhigo though is it's essentially sealed off from the rest of Eorzea - 1.0 clearly stated it's now nothing more than a massive Garlean fortress, whose inhabitants are prevented from escaping southwards by a huge wall. Even though after Operation Archon

the Empire's advancement into Eorzea has been essentially halted, if not completely ended - after all Gaius's last words "And so my conquest ends here," even after Archon Gaius's strongholds still remain filled with Garlean troops, although they could easily be considered to be just remnant forces.

Despite that, I doubt we'll be seeing Ala Mhigo any time soon - Ishgard has long been promised as the next city state to be accessed - it's zone line actually exists in the game (although currently blocked off), the city itself is still 'free' (as in, not under Garlean control), and it's easier to access. Unlike Ala Mhigo which has no zone connecting to it (the only way it could be accessed by land is if a new zone was added to the East Shroud to lead eventually towards it, but Castrum Oriens is blocking the way). So yeah, sadly I don't think Ala Mhigo will be made accessible for quite a long time.

The way to the borders are free, but Ala Migho and also maybe the whole region Gyn Abania is still empire territory.
I think first come Ishgard, then Sharlayan with Dravania and then, after whole Eorzea is united, Ala Migho with Gyn Abania.

Well that is assuming there is no plot reason to make us go to Ala Mhigo in 1st expansion.

If the Garleans remain in Ala Mhigo we won't have any need to go int Ala Mhigo until SE deemed necessary.

However, we have to remember the 1st Expansion Main Story will be much larger than Major Update Main Story quests so there will be a need for plenty of new areas other than just two places. I won't be surprised if Ala Mhigo is the place they will set the Final Battle in 1st Expansion storyline since, as you stated, Eorzea may need to be united first before the assault on Ala Mhigo and the 1st expansion storyline can cover Eorzea finally being united ending with the Battle of Ala Mhigo. This would also make a great way to end the first expansion pack and foreshadow the next expansion pack to be either the Garlean Empire or Far East or both.

Words of Gaius defeat could spark a interests in Eorzea again and a new Legatus may spark another invasion to Eorzea since we have proven to be a threat to the Garlean Empire unless Nero has other plans for Eorzea.

It doesn't give much, though. Just a single monk rebelling for the sake of his homeland and doing... questionable things to achieve it.

(To be honest, I found his caveman talk and the whole monk quest chain dull and boring compared to other job quests.)

Thanks for the map, Felis. I never even realized where Ala Mhigo was actually located. Always thought it was somewhere near South Thanalan or something.
