Arcanists, low level dungeons, and the duty finder help.

I've just started leveling an arcanist with the intention of getting the summoner job, so the stats on the arcanist will be INT.

If I use the duty finder with the Arcanist class will I be made to fill the healer role until I get the summoner class?

If so, will I be able to heal adequately with a DD build?

You will fill the DPS role, even if you wanted to heal. As far as healing goes, where you allocate stats is a very minor thing. Most of your stats will come from gear, until 50 all major mage gear has both int and mnd.

I have to ask: why are you afraid of healing?

Not afraid of it. I've played the healer role before, and have a CNJ class which I'll also be leveling to WHM. I just didn't want my Arcanist to fail on a party if it were forced into a healing role. I wasn't sure about whether an Arcanist was put in that role on account of the Scholar job.

Ahh. Well, while you will be put into the DPS role, you CAN heal a party as arcanist. I used to do that in low level parties when everyone was leveling the new job. Three arcanists and a tank, with one doing healing. Or 4 arcanists, and topaz carbuncle :P

Haha, that sounds like a lot of fun! I'll have to see if anyone in my FC is game sometime. I was surprised at how much I can actually heal given I've not put any points in mind. Must be the gear. (Full Acolyte gear at the moment.)

Well, it's more that attribute points form a super small portion of your total. At level 15 you have 5 points and probably 30 in int and mnd between base stats and gear.
