The content that is being released is mostly aimed at people 25+. Game reviewers dont even level that high.

Then there not reviewing the game, there reviewing the most boring parts so all mmos should get bad reviews because of that

You're making this into some kind of Blizzard/9-11 conspiracy. The review was fairly written. The author reviewed the game for what it is. Not what it can be. Not for what the company tried to do. Not for what SE done in the past. He looked at the game objectively and based it on his experience now.

Issue is the false information and timing issues with the review.

While it is highly accurate now... it is also highly misinformed info... like the rumor official videos that have been release on the front page of lodestone.

Also that review is valid for all of 3 days... I mean I would have no problem if they release a new review on monday... but you know as much as me that will not happen.

While the conspiracy probably is not true... it is a "Lets get one more jab at SE before they start to fix the game". And a very very obvious attempt to not get people to buy or return to the game.

Its not really an excuse to say that patches always come in the future. If you are playing FFXIV to review it, you had to eventually find out the overhaul was going to happen. Three days before 1.18 and it releases a review on the old system? I am not saying he should give it a better review or anything, but his timing is incredibly off.

Sadly I think its a good review and pretty accurate at this current time in the games development.

I am so sorry guys, I really am, I know the truth hurts so much and I do understand how a lot of you feel and that you want to defend the game. But dont lie to yourselfs, you know deep down that this review was almost spot on, dont pretend it wasnt. I was also in denial for many months just like many of you are now, some of us just take longer to realize it than others.

Lets hope 1.18 makes things better.

Filling up a review with massive use of negative hyperbole is the exact opposite of being accurate.

LOL. Please. Cut the condescending tone. You're not in any position to teach any lesson here. Everyone here is in pefect control of their mental abilities. The fact that you don't like the game doesn't give you any form of high ground.

Quite the contrary, the fact that you're still here writing this kind of crap without being able to simply move on if you dislike the game so much means that the problem is on your side.

I know it hurts reading those comments of other peoples experiances with the game. I do understand how you feel and that it somehow bursts your bubble of misconception that everyone loves this game. I was also living in this same dream world untill I woke up one day and tried some other games.

So you think that anyone that likes this game does so because he doesn't play or hasn't played any other game? Talk about a "bubble of misconception" LOL.

Personally, I played almost every single major (and many minor) MMORPG released since the beta of ultima online, and plenty MUDs before that. I currently play Age of Conan, EVE Online, Forsaken World and Champions Online on top of Final Fantasy XIV. Chances are that I played and experienced more MMORPGs that you ever will in your whole life.

The same goes for many, many others that play adn appreciate this game.
Many of us like this game even more *because* we played many other games, and we know how many of them are simply clones of the same concepts rehashed over and over.

Final Fantasy XIV, with it's innovations, is a breath of fresh air in comparison.

Before giving people this silly condescending tone, you better break out of your own "bubbles of misconception", and if you're unable to, then maybe you should just move on.

Besides, we're not even reading "other peoples experiances with the game", as several elements in the review in questions clearly show that the reviewer does not have an exprience with the game, or at the very least does not have a sufficently deep one to generate a valid review of it.

I'm so sorry that you seem to have completely overlooked, ignored, or not comprehended the 30-odd pages of posts where people have explained - many times over for some people (such as Abriael) - quite specifically exactly what their issues are with the so-called review.

Here are the main issues, in bullet-form:
- Inaccurate information (ie. describing confirmed changes to game systems as "rumored")

- Gross use of hyperbole to exaggerate issues with the game, making them sound worse than they are.

- Suspicious timing for a review to be posted, given how long they waited already, and considering an important, game-changing update is only days away that will render several complaints in the review inaccurate.

Seriously, think about that. They've waited 10 months to review the game, ignoring repeat requests - entire threads worth on that site - of requests to review it. Then, suddenly, a mere 4 days before a major patch is released, they decide "Okay. The review must be posted now. We absolutely can not wait any longer"? Come on. That's suspicious by any measure.

- Evidence that the reviewer apparently spent very little time in the game and, likely, saw little more than a couple hours of gameplay (including the intro sequences) given their level in the screenshots they included, yet felt qualified to opine on content far beyond what they had actually experienced.

- Including UI as part of the "graphics" category. Aside from being absurdly misplaced, it also results in that category being given a lower score... for something that has nothing to do with graphics.

- The reviewer either didn't do their homework to keep up with the latest developments in the game, or deliberately ignored them, prior to posting their review.

I honestly don't know how you could have read pretty much even one page of this thread and have not picked up on at least a few of those bullet-points.

No one is complaining about the score. Some are saying it may have scored higher if it was more responsibly reviewed, or perhaps if they'd waited for some changes coming with 1.18 before reviewing it. No one, that I can recall in this entire thread, is upset that the game got a low score. I wonder how many more people are going to argue that strawman before it sinks in...

Its amusing considering how many times he mentioned a patch coming soon that would update most the issues he complained about, but then said nothing as to whats being changed. And it doesn't sound like he played further than lvl 5 or 10 at most. And we all know level 10 can be earned in under 30min...le sigh

Anyway, I don't really care what MMORPG's opinion is, nor the other members there. Its a horrible community that just yells and screams and fights with each other and whom don't understand what an opinion is. Hardly anyone there ever plays a new MMO for themselves to decide but they listen heartily to these ridiculous reviewers...

yeah and condone what is wrong with that site. MMORPG.com = pay us for a good review, not saying FFXIV deserves a good review just saying that site is corrupt. Though im pretty sure you where being sarcastic.

Btw, I notice that there's 2 types of people in this forum
1) Low class rank
2) High class rank

And those 2 type are talking differently.

the first one, "MOST" of them, always think this game is shit and not worth to play. But judge from their stat they just play this game for few hours... then they quit. But I don't understand that why they still troll on this forum even they don't like this game =='.

The second one, Most of them, Love this game and say this game is great ( and yes some of them want this game as it was before, and they don't like Yoshi-P that change this game this much. )

Well, for me, I like this game, I tried Rift too but after try playing it for 1 months.... I quit, just like I was playing WoW for 1 month then quit.. Rift is good but something make me stop playing it.. I don't know why. Maybe because of low-quality model and can't compare to my cute miqo'te? lol

I can't wait to see what 1.18 will change the aspect of this game. I think FFXIV team work as hard as they can to maintain the quality and pride of their flagship series..and I'm on their side.
