Not really. Repair fee might be not much back in the days, but it does makes quite a profit when you run around and ninja-repair players. lolEven back in 1.0 I only ever repaired to 100% if I was going to try and sell the item, or it could be stored in the armoire (even then rarely, I'd usually just stick it in my retainer's inventory). Never saw much use for player repairs, always saw it as functionally useless then as all 100% repair did was make it sellable/tradeable 99% and not having to track down several different crafters and carry around several tiers of dark matter was far more convenient, and even if one crafter class could repair all gear, still would be kinda useless.
I miss those days... XD
IMHO there should be a lot less gil fountains, and there should be no item durability damage and/or need to repair. It doesn't serve any purpose or add anything worthwhile to the game.
I've never had gear break down on me in duties. I just walk up to an NPC, and have them repair it after every duty. It's tedious, and a waste of time.
Crafting serves a purpose: crafting. And that too doesn't really need any item durability system tacked on.
