A Little Tip for WARs When Doing Brayflox (Hard) Runs

Hey guys! You know the second boss in the hard mode of Brayflox's Longstop, Magitek Vangob G-III and its pesky lunge attack that targets a random party member other than the tank? Guess what: Holmgang can prevent that attack from happening. All you have to do to make this little trick successful is wait for a single auto-attack from the boss after it uses Needle Rain (or 1 GCD after Needle Rain). This prevents the boss from dealing unnecessary damage to the rest of your party, and Holmgang wears off in time for you to avoid Oversurge's tiny AoE (if you are within its range). Pretty sweet, eh?

Oh, and let's not forget weaving the following cooldowns during Overpower spam for pulls: Bloodbath, Unchained, Berserk, Vengeance, and Internal Release. Feel free to also weave in Thrill of Battle and Convalescence for extra survivability. If you are quick about it, you can also use Berserk and Internal Release during the boss fights for extra damage, and they should be ready to use for the next pull if used early in the fights. Save Unchained for the pulls, though, and maybe Berserk if you feel you're going into your next pull in less than 75-90 seconds after using it during a boss fight.

I don't know if Holmgang delays the final boss from charging around, which may help with melee/caster DPS to pull off the finishing Limit Break. Well, the reset is just several hours away so I guess there's one way to find out!

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and have a wonderful day!

Holmgang interrupting the charge move sounds pretty nice there, making the fight less annoying.

And when it comes to those bosses, should just swap to full dps jewellery and go out of Defiance once solid hate has been reached.

The Holmgang trick doesn't work on the final boss. I tried it last night when it started to dash, and it is immune.

Same thing happens with any enemy that becomes untargetable at some point, they are removed from the field, in a sense.

Holmgang makes a world of difference. Not only do you reduce the overall damage your party takes, you don't have to chase after the boss if it decides to target someone far away.

Switching to DPS accessories seems a little risky to me on the first boss since I have come up against situations where one of the courels wasn't killed due to the situation where we had to lock it out. I'd keep the tank accessories on for that boss but switch to DPS for the other two. Now, if only I had myth to spare...grinding for two Animus weapons is a big chore.

What about before it tries to dash, like one auto-attack after Bombardment? Is it not possible to delay it from sprinting around for at least six seconds?

Yeah it still doesn't work. I tried it before it became untargettable but it was still immune to the bind, as a lot of Bosses are.

I wouldn't spend myth on DPS accessories. Instead, spend gil on i70 crafted gear and 5x meld it. Gryphonskin or Rose Gold. If melded properly, you will end up with 10 Vit/9 Str per piece, plus more secondary stats than on an i90 accessory. Compare that to 15 Vit *or* 13 Str on a myth piece. Or put another way 2x i70 penta-meld > 1x i90 fending accessory + 1x i90 Str accessory. If you do 5 slots, then lose 25 Vit to gain 45 Str (compared to i90 tank accessories). Totally worth it >.<

This is why they didn't include i90 jewelry in the last round of crafting recipes: it was too good at i70.
