I really understand where you're coming from. Last week I got Pharos Sirius for my High Level Roulette. I have no problems healing it, but as soon as we got in a dps left. I realized the other dps and tank were still in their AF gear. Of course this isn't the first time I've seen someone leave when one person isn't i80 or above. I guess he could have left because it was Pharos, but why even leave? Its an easy dungeon :P Its really too bad he left because (like my other experiences with lower geared people) it was a fairly fast, smooth run...not one wipe. Actually, I've only wiped there once, and it was because an over geared tank was in such a rush, he locked out both dps on Siren lol. For videos...well, I usually watch videos because I like to have an idea of what's going to happen. I'd never be a jerk to someone who doesn't want to watch one though.

So basically, don't let those kind of people get you down...and I know that's easier said than done! I can only imagine how stressful it is to tank when everyone else has about 30 ilvls on you. If only we could have friends cross server, I'd heal for you all the time, and help you gear up

I'm not surprised people get put off tanking, I had a real charming individual with a custom soundbite that he/she used at the end boss, it was 3rd time I'd tanked Copperbell Mines, I use flash, fast blade/savage blade to maintain hate. The individual concerned offered advice which I was happy to take, but you could tell had an attitude. Then proceeds to pull that stunt at the end of the dungeon, which I'm sure made everyone feel great. FYI, to myself and everyone else out there, douches are douches, no matter what you do will be right or please them, and will go out of their way to make people feel like rubbish. So if you enjoy the class, don't give up!!

Square wonders why there aren't many tanks, its the rude players out there that keep people from wanting to play Tank classes. I actually considered doing a Tank or Healer class for second class but the pressure I know would get to me and I will drop the dungeon in a heartbeat if people are completely rude about being new to a role. Tank is the most needed class out in FF14 but people don't wanna treat the people trying to learn Tanking with respect. Than there is also the Tanks that are rude because if you see their efforts causing a wipe its usually best to try to think of a solution to the problem to prevent another wipe, I seen Tanks be rubbish to people who try to give them help or ideas.

Yeah I know what you mean, I've experienced it on the flip side when on healer or dps, having to deal with a rude tank. That's why in dungeons I always say to people I'm a tank that's learning, and just TELL me if you want to give advice, want a full run, or anything else you can think so they know I'm communicative and want ppl to feel I notice them and their words of wisdom I'm pretty laid back too which I think helps a lot lol. I really appreciate this, and have met some great people who really helped me, if only I'm brave enough to ask for help I think people are too scared to say anything sometimes, because of the rudeness element who play which is sad :/

This really took on a life of its own. Glad to hear of others frustrations. Nice to know I'm not alone, and disappointed in other responses, but each to their own in that regard.

On the whole, I enjoy tanking, I feel I'm competent and a fast learner, so I will continue on. What I likely won't do, is the high level gear grind. I'm probably gonna stick to helping people out and enjoying the content I am able to, in a way that gives me entertainment.

It's unfortunate really, as I know there is a shortage of tanks in the game, and I think I would have been a great addition to the high level parties requiring a tank. But alas, not meant to be.

I will carry on, just at a slower pace. Thanks for the support some of you have shown. Much appreciated

I am by no means elitist. I am not in the top tier of players on this game or on my server but I find it highly inconsiderate when folks show up to a high level dungeon or fight clueless, especially when they say something like "ok guys i'm new give me the rundown" really? so you don't want to spend the time educating yourself on the dungeon or primal mechanics but you expect 7 other people to spend their time teaching you the fight? how selfish is that? In the end this is a MMO there are a lot of other peoples time you have to consider when playing such a game. At least having an idea of what's going to happen and what to do does a lot for the enjoyment and time for everyone in your party as a whole.

Be a good sport and a team player, if you are serious about meeting your goals in this game then use the information out there that's available to help yourself and the folks you play with.

Having a Good FC that works with your playstyle helps a bunch too and just run a lot of them.

I know how you feel OP.

Some people are too demanding but wont even Tank themselves. I dealt with it before so I don't really tank much unless it's unstressful content for friends, family, and guildies that I know aren't gonna complain about how it's approached.

Was planning on tanking to get the tank mounts in coil but after experiencing the first 5 queue's I'd stick to what I can enjoy with a smile on my face. I'm done with stressful progression.
