in an exceptional amount of time / effort learning mechanics
Most, "not all", probably only want people to have a clue of what to expect. I by that i don't necessary mean watching a vid, more like reading up what moves bosses has and where to stand. At least then mistakes can be kept to a minimum.

At least that is how I look when it comes to team play. But that can also factor in that i come from games with death penalties.

you can tell me what to do or you can watch me die over and over again
Just a question. If you don't have anything against someone telling you about the fight, why not look it up before?

Now I've hit coil and ex modes I think it's hard enough content that you can find learning groups more easily, and people not expecting a fast win every time, so I should enjoy that a lot.
I hope you find a good group. All it takes is finding a few capable people willing to put the time in to learn the fights and you'll progress. My FC had trouble with turn 1 took us two weeks of 3 nights a week to clear it when coil first came out. ADS passing rot took us another two weeks. We then got stuck on t4 for like 4-5 weeks and people got discouraged but we kept tweaking our strat and managed to beat it. Same with turn five. Now we've cleared t6 and are working on our t7 strat. I hope you find a group to continue to enjoy this game.

I'm surprised this is an issue in dungeons. All of them are so easy and straight forward or just takes a second to explain each boss. Most of them are basic tank and spank as well. If dungeons are making you consider hanging up your shield, then it's best to just do it now since end game is going to be worst.

When did games become about speed running and kicking people after one wipe. Why.... Dear god.... Why? Haha.

Trust me, I feel and support you on this. I blame SE for making it that way, in majority. Now of course with my limited playing time, I want to make sure my 3 hours will be well-spent.

SE should make (sadly) 2 (3?) different ways to get into the same instance.

1- First-timers who wants to enjoy every cutscenes, didn't watch a VID (no, it's not a requirement to enjoy the game.)
2- The rest who will skip the cutscenes, but will enjoy the content, clearing EVERYTHING, uncoveraing all treasures, having a blast with people, FC or not. (I think this is where I belong and feel it should be intended that way.)
3- Speed Runners, and Tome Farmers. (enuf said)

You are far from being the only one - a community, like in real life, is composed of many different forms of peeps with many different views. - it's not bad, but in real life you get to choose if you want to be with them, or not.

A game is far from that: you have no choice but to be mixed from bad apples.

SE 'tried' to help: Party Finder. If you clearly state your intentions about how you want to do a specific trial/dungeon/whatever, those who will join you, agree to your conditions.

For me, its take the FUN out of simply gaming with everyone, more formal like in the real world, which I want to escape by playing a game and having: FUN.

Not the best loot (we all want it, sure) FUN factor is first.

I would suggest you to stick with a good FC that has the same goals than you, helping you through all of the stuff that make this game great.

If there is none on your server, come join us!

TL;DR: don't let the minority of 'bad seeds' getting what they want, from the majority of fun that you can get.

    Thanks Nadrojj!

Even though I like to take my time in the earlier dungeons, I do love a challenge, so this sounds great! Up till now I've mainly been playing with linkshell mates, but my Free Company do regular excursions into Coil and the extreme primals. They took me through first Pharos and Crystal Tower and they're really nice guys, so looking forward to spending more time with em. They're on turn 4 i think, so i'm not too far behind. Also I'm pretty sure they turn the echo buff off after wipes, which I'm into the idea of as well.

Gratz on the turn 6 victory and all the best to you and your group going forward

It's kind of an unspoken distinction: You need to start a party finder learning group to "experience" content. Duty finder's want to speed run for their tomes.

But generally I agree with you. I'd rather experience & learn what to do... rather than try to remember youtube instructions. I prefer to only resort to internet guides if I'm stuck on something.

Some people tend to forget one thing: when a new dungeon or trial is out there, the first ones that will make vids will perhaps fail more than one time. Did they watch a vid? There was none. Does that made them unable to achieve it? With Perseverance, nope.

They make the vids to help 90% of the population that are not able to beat it.. without watching a vid.. else it seems people don't know what to do.. and will ask SE to lower the difficulty..

I'm roxxor the bestest, so if I fail, SE is doing it wrong..

It doesn't hurt knowing the fight mechanics before going in, I understand the feeling, I tank regularly and theres a lot of bad healers and dps that when everything goes wrong they blame the tank, in this game the tank role is the most difficult, you need to keep the boss hate on top all the time, dodge stuff and survive when the healers aren't curing wisely, so basically you wont get bored in any fight or dungeon, you are the one who control the entire run, sometimes this can be very demanding.

April, I think it's just tough getting over the early end game hump where many players are farming myth heavily (starting at Castrum, untill start of Coil). Because they need so much myth many become impatient to first timers that dare enter the duty (or "speedrun") finder. I know this is even harder on tanks, who are expected to be exceptional and experienced from the start.

For me it was a case of waiting and waiting for guys in the Linkshell / FC to be available / willing to take me on a first run of each dungeon, so I could enjoy it. After that (or when I'm comfortable with the dungeon), I don't mind using duty finder now and then and taking what comes, but even after the first run I prefer to join a pre-formed when possible to guarantee enjoyment instead of just a myth / gear grab.

Keep trying to grab people in the Linkshell, but I know you're in a different timezone to many so that can be hard :/ You can try party finder, but I wouldn't hold your breath on that one.

    Ultimately you have to be OK with waiting around for people to be online / available to join your run (maybe level an alt class in meantime as it can literally be weeks before you get your happy group sometimes). I'm hoping as the Linkshell grows it will only get easier to form a party for those no stress runs, but honestly it will probably always be a challenge. Alternatively, you can just join the duty finder and hope for the best, but it's up to you how much drama / rage quits / vote kicks and vote abandons you're willing to take ^^;

Anyway, when I'm on, chances are I'm up for an endgame run with you, so that's 2 of 4 (or 8 :P).
