Increase in Bots

Has anyone noticed the large increase in bots lately?

Always been around I guess for gathering and crafting but now we get them in fates and dungeons.

I have had Tank bots and DPS bots so far.

Tank bots are easy to spot as they run up to where a mob should be and just stand there until someone tags it at which point they attack.

DPS is pretty easy to spot also as after a fight they will go back to where they first attacked and then run after normally the healer.


I have seen the same FATE bot around for 3 days now and have reported numerous times.

How do I know? One, they never move out of AOE. You can actually kill them with this, they just stand there. If the AoE doesn't kill them in 2 hits or gets them down to about 10% they will run off.



This needs to have the hammer brought down on it, it is not just ruining the economy but dungeons.

I've been seeing them fairly regularly in Tam-tara since that's all roulette likes to give me, but so far I've only noticed tanks except for once I had an Archer in Cutter's Cry that'd just auto attack everything and then it'd run back to where the battle started before rejoining the group. It's funny watching them get stuck on stuff.

It's easy to tell when they're not human. They are programmed in some fashion to follow either the map or corridors, I'm not sure, because when they encounter a dead end or a fork in the road, they will continuously run into the dead end or chasm (exceptionally common in Tam-tara at the first sheer drop off) until they run back and try again a couple times before correcting itself. They run into a group and do *mechanically identical* actions for every single fight throughout the entirety of the dungeon, and don't react to health, and sometimes they'll never accept a Raise. Have fun with those in Qarn, by the way.

But all you can really do is report them and pray the GMs give two flips. You can kick them, if your party agrees that it's a bot (which will start a whoooooole other conversation here), but the really sick part is sometimes that bot is better than real players and people don't want to kick them.

Oh and don't be fooled, they can talk (sort of) and roll on loot. Though they regularly don't so that you can't kick them because the loot window is still waiting for someone.

Does excalibur get locked often? I know on Hyperion there'll be a nice period where I might get one RMT tell a day/once every few days, then the server's character creation will be unlocked during peak hours for a change and suddenly mass RMT tells. I know you're talking about bots, but could be the same thing- they get banned, server is locked, you dont see any, then the server gets unlocked and they create a whole bunch of rmt/bots all at once so you notice them suddenly.

Gathering bots need to get their s*** together. Shard prices are outragous! Jk I feel like I have seen far less bots lately.

Nope but I have seen an increase in the amount of times people are claiming someone is a Bot for being new to a Dungeon, not a great player, or are not playing the way someone else in the group feels they should. I'm not saying there isn't an issue with Bots but it seems like very dungeon I've been in has had one person or another accuse someone of being a Bot.

I am careful to not accuse people of botting if they are knew.

A bot and noob are pretty easy to tell apart, not to mention they will defend themselves.

It has been months since I saw the last bot. Well, to be fair, it has been months since I don't run through the maps because I have no business there, but gathering if I need to. I remember I met a nice group of bots, they were like... 9 or 10 characters? All of them were Thamaturges, killing monsters and FATE farming, moving together, stacking sometimes and getting stuck against walls or objects. I sent a report about that but that kind of report doesn't appear on the report history. So, I don't know what happened to them.

I have seen tank bots in the past. Not a ton, but it's pretty obvious. Running up to a group of mobs and only using fast blade...and no talking, etc.

Anyway, I haven't seen any lately thankfully.

I ran into tank doing the same, turns out they wasn't a bot but new and a PS4 player. They was on my server I sent them a ps4 chat invite took them to Aleport did a few levequest to teach them how to mark pull and keep aggro.

Had a bot, or just a straight up cheating RMT player, in Wanderer's Palace the other day. lvl 50 Thaumaturge, no BLM, with the typical RMT gibberish name. He refused to talk to us, even though we were accusing him of being RMT. He teleported around the dungeon, grabbing a few chests, but not all of them, for some reason, and either kiting or killing mobs through the whole while so that we were unable to vote kick him with the "can't kick while in battle" rule. He eventually got to the end of the dungeon right before we made it to the second boss and then force DCed. We reported him for the teleport hacking, but got no GM response before we finished the dungeon.
