    Questions about multi-job toons

Veteran MMO'er. New to the FFXIV, thanks in advance for the help.

As I understand it, I could take a single character and level up every single class to the level cap. I also understand that a single character can have multiple jobs, if you fulfill the class req's and do the quests.

    A few questions:

    1. A lot has been made of the "best starting race for X class". I'm starting to suspect this is silly, due to the multi-class nature of the game. Does the 4 point variation in core stats matter in the end? How much of your main stat do you have in endgame?

    2. As you level a class, you get bonus stat points to invest. Do those points carry over when you switch classes, or are the stats "siloed". This is important, of course, because whether you can truly cross-role depends on whether you've built that job around the right stats. If I have the gear, can I switch from Bard to Tank to Healer at L50? Or am I forced somehow to commit to one job?

    3. What strategies do you suggest for leveling up alt classes? Can you complete a higher level quest on your main class, then switch to alt class to turn it in?

    4. If I do intend to max all my classes, I assume I'm going to run out of quests? Does it then become all about Levequests, etc? How far can I get before I'm limited to repeatables?

    5. Ordinarily in an MMO I'd be maxing multiple characters. I don't see much point to that here...anything I'm missing?

    Thanks!
    Ashe

1.) Ive played a couple races at 50 thanks to Fantasia and I've not noticed a single difference. your gear points will end up mattering more then the race points i promise you at 50 you wont remember there was a race difference.

2.) the stat points aren't cross class each class gets its own set of 30 points to align in the correct spot so your safe to switch between Bard(dex) ->tank(vit) -> healer(mnd) at any time as long as you have them lvled.

3.) Dungeons, Hunting logs, leves, fates the new challenge logs are all ways to lvl.

4.) the storyline will get your first job to 50 pretty much and after you get your first 50 you get the sweet armory bonus which makes lvling alot faster the 2nd time around.

5.) Most of the people lvling multiple characters are ppl who a) enjoy making characters b) are ppl who Role Play c) ppl who enjoyed the storyline for me im sticking with one personhttp://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/editpost.php?p=2105088&do=editpost

Just FYI, if you edit your post you can bypass the 1000 character limit.

    1) Those starting stat differences mean nothing at endgame as your stats will be in the several-hundreds by that point so pick whichever race you like aesthetically.

    2) The stat points for each class are separate from each other. The only class you will need to make any meaningful decision for will be Arcanist as you will have to decide to focus on Summoner (INT-based) or Scholar (MND-based) or just going half and half. That said, you can always reset your stat points by buying an item from the Grand Companies.

    3) If you have a battle class higher than the battle class you are currently playing, you get a flat 50% XP bonus to many non-quest forms of XP. Duty Roulette and queuing for the highest level dungeon a class can participate in will get you a lot of XP as enemy kills in dungeons are the best way to take advantage of this bonus. You can do FATEs and work on your hunting log while waiting on dungeon queues.

    4) You won't need to worry about the fact you will have little/no quests for alternate classes after hitting level 50 in a class. The aforementioned bonus XP helps a lot and you will have Leves, Dungeons, FATEs, and Challenge Log objectives to give you XP.

    5) This game is intended to be played with one character since you can play everything on one. The only advantage to having multiple characters is that you can "bypass" weekly lockouts but most people definitely don't have the free time required to make that worth considering.
