FFXIV: Rise of the Bots

Everyone has been focusing on the RMT spamming in the large cities but ultimately it's not harming the game; other than being very annoying. But the mass use of a Gathering bots is harming the game. With bot's gathering for +36 hours the amount of mats coming from them into the general economy is large and distorting.

I have seen and reported many of these gathering bots. But it seems that SE just isn't doing anything about it... For instance I reported a bot that was mining in Southern Thanalan on Sunday night and again on Monday morning. As of three hours ago, that bot is still there mining. Over 36 hours later the bot is still there and still mining. They teleport from node to node(often they are stealthed because, why not when you don't actually walk anywhere).

In FFXI SE was aggressive about getting rid of fishing bots, in FFXIV it seem reporting them does nothing.

Yeah, funny to seem them teleporting between nodes.

I've heard there is zero bot protection in this game, ie it has nothing like The Warden. Instead they just rely on player reports, that would be smart if it was easy and convenient to report such things...

I've seen several outside the Gates of Nald, in Ul'Dah, same as above. Stealth active and tele porting between nodes. Both I witnessed were lvl 22-24ish. It is a shame.

I would hardly call it "funny". It's one of the most blatant examples of cheating I have ever seen in a game. And it seems like it's not even on the radar. SE in the past has been aggressive on dealing with stuff like this. But they can't seem to keep people from shouting(which everyone is focusing on). And nobody is even talking about this, reporting them does nothing.

Heck, the other day while I was crafting in Ul'dah I saw several people botting in town. They were just running around and sometimes casting spells. It was odd because it was before the maintenance and the only thing I could come up with was people were trying to keep from going afk. But I saw three people that would run around in a specific pattern of locations, stopping in the exact same spots and then casting a spell.

Actually, a great deal of the RMT spam is currently coming from hacked accounts and thus I'd say it is causing a lot of harm to the game aside from simply breaking immersion.

Though I do agree that the bots running 24/7 on a hacked script allowing them to teleport around the map is causing harm to the game as well. Unfortunately, given that this is a newly released MMORPG, Square-Enix has a lot on its plate. However, I do hope that addressing these issues are at the top of their "to-do" list.

yeah i have been seeing a few bots only resently last week in dungeons but low dungeons (as im doing up my CNJ) and twice where they the tank worst class to be as a bot as normally they won't say hi but the game don't forces them to say hi (cause they might be shy,just want to do the dungeon or speak another langue) so we carry on. A bot tank never uses flash and never stops running unless the party stops and the bot tank stops shorts after they follow the party no matter which direction and never keeps aggro, and im guessing a bot can't beat a boss so the dungeon can only go so far feel sorry for the healers and dps trying to survive the dungeons
