Three words "Bring back Vana'diel"

Before you roll your eyes please give me a moment of your time and read on.

The lore for Eorzea hasn't fully been established, there are always talks of the main land. So why couldn't the main land be Vana'diel? I'm not talking about Final Fantasy XI's Vana'diel but in fact Vana'diel several hundred years after Final Fantasy XI.

We already have what looks to be evolved races of the original's in FFXIV so here is my idea.

A major disaster happen long ago that is now only remembered by few who still study the histories of the past. The once proud races of Vana'diel forced out of their home lands retreated from a losing battle and struggling to survive. The once proud races lost their heritage and evolved to their new homes, taking on new names and rebuilding their heritage from scratch. The past was forgotten and a new future born.

There could be an epic story involving rediscovering Vana'diel and learning what happened in the past for the calamity that struck long ago has returned to finish what was started. A brave few sacrificed their lives to buy the world time, time that was lost. Now it will be up to the new adventurers to discover the tragedies of past to protect the future.

Discover the once thriving city on the sea Jeuno now in ruins occupied by beastmen. San'doria once the proud city of the elves now cursed by a plague of death as the ghosts of the fallen roam the streets in misery. Windurst and the lands of Saruta Baruta now a lush thick forest over run by creatures which would also be the home of ancients that know the echoes of the past. Bastok the last city to fall crumbled in to the sea, now a slum where dirty dealings and corruption can be found. Selbina, Mhaura and Kazham cities by the sea where the races flooded to escape and make their stand but eventually ran to Eorzea once discovered to retreat the main land in hopes of new lives. Norg is still the home of pirates of course .

The entire world of Vana'diel changed in fact only the ancients still call the land Vana'diel. I dare not try and think of what it would be called and all the area's are called different names for the original names all were lost in time. Those who sacrificed their lives bought time for the people of Vana'diel to escape to the sea. This was just my idea I'd love to rediscover Vana'diel in a new light.

I could see this expansion being released along with the PS3 or PS4 version to bring people who played FFXI and others in to the world as well as the veterans who left FFXIV or who are still around like me supporting Square 100%!!

I am also interested to hear what others have to say of my idea!! even the devs!!! also bring back Naoshi Mizuta it would only be fitting that he bring new breath to the ravaged lands he once brought life in to.

vana diel, lore wise, not that great, in terms of FF worlds it was not the most entertaining. Why bother, ff series isnt known for direct sequels and i dont see much benefit to linking this world to vana diel.

I suggested them this long ago...and seems like things are pointing this way. I wouldn't be surprised if, by the time they decide terminating FFXI service, all remaining players being migrated to FFXI and all areas/content adjusted to FFXIV systems.

This game receiving 10 years-worth of content as a separate continent would post its possibilities to insane proportions.

But seeing the way FFXIV is changing AND the way FFXI is changing, i believe they are already getting this ready to be done in a near future.

I could sort of see them doing a alternate universe type theme to it like they did with the races, new names, new lore but familiar enough that a ffxi vets can recognise it. The garleans move to obtain some ancient power there, the responce from the companies is to send forces there to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands or something like that. I'm not against something like that but i will be just as happy for brand new areas as for rehashed ffxi areas.

Perhaps thousands of years ago, something happened the divided everything. The people living in this area came to be known as hyur, and lalas, etc, and the people living in that area, are hume, galka.. and they are going on at the same time despite eachother. perhaps 1 day they will meet.

Or maybe it's a different dimension. FFXI players can come to our world as like.. spirits, and we can go to vana as spirits or w.e.. and and. and... idk some kind of possiblity where FFXI players can KEEP there FFXI, and their characters, and somehow link the two without giving FFXI players a huge advantage "due to time of play" over FFXIV players.

This is a thing i've been thinking...not only about FFXI...but about every FF prior this one. In the moment they get this game going they can just start adding content from every other FF and expanding this as "THE" FF online. We can have brand new quest, brand new stories...like an alternate version of every FF merged in one. This not only would preserve the feelings regarding the original game but also expand in a monstruous scale this one. Think about you being able to fight alongside with FF best champions, face FF most feared characters, redo every story in a brand new way and perspective since we actually will not be the soldiers that lead those sagas, but that dude that offered support so they could accomplish it!

Obviously some adjustments would be needed...like the Cids...having 14 Cids would be at least weird...unless they just number them, like FFXI Cid being "Cid XI"...this would also bring some other points to this game like the Ivalice Alliance seal and content and even Secret of Mana serie content since they are linked in some points.

I do would love seeing this...would take many yers to be done...prolly even many console generations...but once done it would be much easier to just converti into a more powerful platform specs.

But obviously this is way too much for a single game...even though i know that if every year we get 1~2 FF converted into expansions for this game there would be people waiting for FFVI, VII, X and XI just as many years as needed...just to play the "XIV version" of that game.

I would have to say pass on this one. I like the way FFXIV has set up the story, and well... making it squeal like wouldn't be the best idea. FFXIV has a story-line as it is, and i'm sure the devs are working on exposing the missing pieces soon.

Exploring vast lands, probably occupied by beastmen tribes?
Ancient ruins, new areas, visions of the past?
Learning about the reason why we all came to Eorzea hundreds or thousands of years ago?
All fine with me, sounds entertaining

But the "world" we came from being Vana'diel? NO.
I don't care if all the names changed, if the way it looks changed, I do not want to play a remake/sequel of FFXI.
If they hide one or two easter eggs somewhere which make you think it may actually be related to FFXI's Vana'diel, okay. But any more than that, even if it's just a kind of similar layout, do.not. want.

Edit: Although I have to give you credit on at least posting something well thought-out^^
