Food only provides a very minimum boost. it's only useful for the 3% EXP boost.

Let's say you have 100 Vit. If you got food that said "Vit +10% (Max 5)", then your Vit after will be 105, not 110, cos 5 is the max you can get from it.

Don't rely on food for stats, but if you really want to get food that increases both Crit and Determination.

What!? I think you're referring to low level food/character since this is posted on New Player Help, but as you can see OP is Bard 50 and asking about food and speed runs.
On topic, I feel it's that linear, but take this with a grain a salt since I'm not fond of theorycrafting. I guess you should use Black Truffle Risotto HQ. Anyways, you should get more accurate information posting on DPS roles forum.

What on Earth are you talking about? I gave him one of the main uses of food as well as advice. His level is irrelevant.

The main use of food is min/maxing your damage in raids... not exp boost...

An example; the later coil raids are recommended to have a certain amount of accuracy so they you can actually hit the bosses. Let's say that the recommended is 490 accuracy and you have 477. While you will likely hit on most (or all) of your attacks, there is a chance that you actually CAN miss which would lower your DPS considerably. Now you eat food that boosts your accuracy by 13 to get the recommended 490 so you will not miss...that seems to be a game changer to me.

Anything to maximize your potention doesn't seem like a waste to me. if you wanted food for just XP, there's lots of other food that offers just XP and no stat bonuses.

Yeah I know how it works. I wouldn't be giving advice if I didn't.

If you NEED food to reach a minimum limit then you are undergeared anyway.

well he did say for min/maxing

the whole point of minmaxing is to be the best you can, even if its going from 98% efficiency to 99%, its a difference that some people enjoy

...Any little boost can go a long way.

You remind me of this White Mage I had in Brayflox Hard mode...Who was in AF and all Lv30 intelligence accessories and belt. And then told me 20+ extra mind really doesn't make much of a difference. Meanwhile I was running out of MP as a bard keeping the WHM's MP up because their cures did absolutely nothing and we were unable to do any kind of "Speed run" tactics because he could hardly keep up with the tank having 2 mobs.
