cross server party finder

i was wondering for a while now if the developers could implement something like this. we already have a cross server duty finder working and it doesnt seem like it would be impossible or hard to do. they probably would have to disable the chat until we get into the duty or something since that wouldnt work i dont think.
this feature would be amazing not only for the people that are stuck on servers that dont corespond to their own timezone but to people on low pop servers!

what are your thoughts?

This probably never gonna happen for a couple of reason.


1.) It put way too much strain on the server.

2.) Do you realize how long the list will get if all server is on the same Party Finder windows? Not only does this make it less easier, but take longer to find a good party by scrolling through the exact same thing over and over again.

3.) Because it Cross Server, people are anonymous and can be an ass and nerd rage. It already happening with same server, imagine with annonymous cross server.

4.) It cause too much abused, think of it like Duty Finder.

5.) There won't be enough server for instances for all the Party Finder because it fill up too fast and everyone started to que up at once .


But my number one complains that I don't want this because it will nearly be impossible to find a good party since the list is too long and too many duplicate. I don't spend 10 - 15 minutes scrolling and read through it and hoping I join a good one.

It wouldn't really work because the PF is designed to get you a custom party, and a party cannot exist cross-server. If it did, it would mean people constantly server hopping whenever they built one up to be able to meet up for open world events.

I think I understand what you mean though, you'd want a higher population to reach the custom made group for instanced content right? Maybe have a section of the PF that is designed just for instanced fights, where the members can only chat and only meet up when inside the instance. I'm a little sceptical with this though. If people found a group they wanted to play with more using the cross-server parties then people would be requesting cross-server linkshells etc. In the end it wouldn't really mean much to belong to a server and we'd lose the benefits to having a local community. Isn't there a limit to how much cross-server traffic the network can handle anyway?

I think the best they could really do would be to fine tune the duty finder filtering, allowing people with different intentions not to mix (speed runners with newcomers for example).

Actually that's not a bad idea like a special area zone where you enter and has a lot of other players from different servers almost like a instance dungeon but a lobby.

you can leave and come back almost like a zone but again like a dungeon instance.

but they would have to not allow trading.

Cross server anything is not a good idea, except for the Duty Finder which we already have.
