[Housing] Furniture switch settings do not persist upon leaving house

    ISP: Cox Communications

Type of Internet Connection: high speed cable

    Internet Connection Speed:
Specify the speed of internet connection. (Example: 768Kbit/s, 5Mbit/s)

    Date & Time: 5/9/2014 3:48am

    Frequency: Always

Character Name: Meru Maru (Miqo'te M), Sovia Sovis (Lalafell F)

    World: Balmung

Class/Level: Bard 50 (Maru), White Mage 50 (Sovis)

Area and Coordinates: Lavender Beds 10x8y (Ward 1 Plot 30) Medium House

    Party or Solo: Solo

NPC Name: Manor Harpsichord, Manor Timpani, Manor Marching Horn, Manor Harp, Manor Cello, Tonberry Floor Lamp, Amigo Cactus Floor Lamp, Mandragora Floor Lamp

    Monster Name: none.

    In-Game Time: ET 9:09 (persists)

    Steps:
My character Meru Maru is alone in the house during this.
    1) Placed all Manor Instruments near door so they would play upon zoning in; they do not.
    2) Click each Manor Instrument once and zone out, still do not play upon zoning in.
    3) Click each Manor Instrument twice (so that they play music) and zone out, still do not play upon zoning in.
    4) Click each Manor Instrument three times (so that they play music and then are interrupted) and zone out, still do not play upon zoning in.
    5) Go upstairs and turn off all 3 lamps mentioned and zone out.
    6) Zone in and all three lamps are turned back on for no reason.
    7) Turn all three lamps back off, log off, and zone in with Sovia Sovis (same account) and all three lamps are back on.

Conclusion is that switches do not persist if the house is unoccupied, which did not happen before the 2.21? patch.

I remember reading they were making an adjustment to housing so that if a house goes unoccupied the server shuts down the interior for performance reasons.

I found the info in a letter from the producer live:

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...804-09-2014%29 (question came at 0:51:23)

"Housing is quite resource intensive service-wise, so we're also working to make it function more efficiently. For example, when no one is inside of an estate, the animations for certain furnishings will be turned off. We’ve been keeping an eye on how many houses have no one in them while actually playing, and once performance levels have reached what we consider to be ideal, we'll release personal housing. Send me your questions for the next Letter from the Producer LIVE and I'll provide you with any follow-up information available at the time."
