    Trouble taking down Ilfrit

For a little while now, I've trying to help take down Ilfrit in the Lord of the Inferno dungeon (throwing all I can at it). I have the most recent clothing and other items on my character. Even with all of it fulled mended, I have a feeling I may still be knocked out. I have tried keeping a good distance anyway.
I have seen one or two youtube vids, so I know what I was trying to do.

Do I need to take up Conjurer or something, along with the primary Arcanist skill? Would that help?

    *Serious modo, on*

And I'm just gonna assume you're doing baby Ifrit, since it says your arcanist is lv21, and that appears to be your only class you currently have. You need a 4 man party, consisting of a tank, 2 dps, and a healer. The fight itself is pretty easy, just dodge aoes that spawn below your feet by moving out of them, and kill the nail. Killing the nail is a must. If the nail isn't taken down, the fight itself is a guaranteed fail, every time. The rest, falls on the rest of your party to do their job. Tank tanks Ifrit, healer heals and dodges plumes/eruptions(AOE damage), dps do damage and dodge plumes/eruptions(AOE damage) and dps down the nail. If one person isn't doing any of these things, then that may be the reason to your constant failures.

Well, I have 3 other classes, none of which are high enough as archanist.

However, I do help as much as possible with bringing the nail down, but despite that, it would be already too late, as Ilfrits most powerful attack is made.

I will continue until I get it right and no one else drops out.

Ifrit's basically got two things to look out for.

    1. THE NAIL >:O. As soon as it arrives both DPS should be on it like a fly on poop. If you're doing that, you're doing what you ought to be. If it's not coming down in time, one or both of the DPS have a discrepancy in their DPS-ness. If your stats are where they should be, this isn't on you. If your gear is up to date, this isn't on you.

Are you casting your DoTs on the nail and ordering Emerald Carbuncle to attack it aswell? I mean, some new arcanists tend to think Bio and Miasma are not powerful enough compared to bigger numbers coming from Ruin (which is plainly wrong) and forget to change Carbuncle's target from Ifrit to the nail, leaving it with Ifrit and casting just Ruin on the nail.
If you're keeping DoTs up on the nail (and Emerald Carbuncle attacking it aswell) while casting Ruin, the issue does not rely on you but on the rest of the party members you've been playing with instead.

It doesn't always work (read: not very often) but at least you've tried not to go overboard.
What? Seems you're referring to Titan...

    Destroy the nail(s).

Wear your best armor; HQ if possible. If you are talking about the Ifrit with a party just get those nails. If you are talking about the Ifrit avatar that floats around following Summoner then get the nail AND if you fail repeat it over and over without leaving the zone and the difficulty will auto reduce per number of tries (idk the ratio). Good luck.

Finally, I managed to do it, and with the help of youtube I did the Miasma spell when Ilfit did its powerful attack, following the removal of the nail thing. Now on the next stage of the game.
