Still experiencing complete system failure thanks to FF14

    Latest Update:

Have managed to catch a BSOD. Behold it's very helpful information!

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 4105

    Additional information about the problem:

    Attempted Solutions:

Updated Drivers: Everything's updated, so no luck

Reinstalled FF14: Spent a while waiting for everything to patch, feeling optimistic, only to have my hopes dashed spectacularly by the inevitable crash

Checked the temperature: Everything's working fine according to the HWMonitor

Lowering graphics options to laptop quality: Hurt my eyes, but didn't solve anything

Ran back to Uldah to see if maybe it had to do with the location: Uldah hates me as well

Double checked to see if my graphics card driver was the newest it could possibly be: ...yes. Yes it is.

Rolled back graphic card driver: Went back to June 2013, still crashed pretty quickly

    Current Status
Somehow managed to beat Satasha, feeling like maybe the latest Windows update had miraculously solved my problems, only to have everything begin crashing once again yesterday.
Today, just one crash after another, with little chance of even being able to communicate, let alone merrily jump up and down while waiting for my inevitable doom.
Current mood: Doom and despair despite the mods trying to cheer me up by tossing my threads into the resolved section.

    Summary:

For some inexplicable reason, my computer's been getting killed by FF14 as I try to wander around anywhere After 5-15 minutes the game will suddenly freeze, the sound stutters, the only option available is to hard restart. It won't even give me a BSOD so that I can have some hint as to what happened.

I have tried both Skyrim and Shogun 2 to see if I could somehow replicate this issue, though nothing yet, so far. The computer itself seems rather stable, with temperatures running at acceptable limits.

I've also tried lowering graphics settings, running around with even all shadows disabled, and still the game seems to run quite nicely until it dies.

I have even tried the full reinstall, and still, no luck.

Even more perplexing is that I haven't been having these issues until I reached Gridania (occassional driver issues, it seemed, though nothing too bad), and then even worse at Aleport. I figure on heading back to Uldah to see if, in fact, that region is somehow better off. Update Even Uldah has decided that it now loathed my computer, and decided to stab it with an unknown error.

As of this moment, I simply cannot play Final Fantasy. Sure, I can load up and see the pretty opening movie, but I cannot do anything aside from plonk one enemy, start to feel optimistic, and then watch my world come to a halt while the previously soothing overworld music does its best rendition of really bad techno.

See you could borrow someone else with different graphics card (nVidia) to eliminate the core of the issue which seems to be the GFX card, AMD seems to have all sort of issues.

Heh, I wish I could. Luckily the FF14 email support is back up, hoping to get more advice from them than just "Check your routers"

Capturing the hexadecimal code when the PC actually bluescreens might be more helpful than the thing the Microsoft error report burps out. The only thing I could suggest at this point though is an OS reinstall (may have some corrupted files) or a hardware change. When you say your video card is operating "normally", what kind of temp is it running at?

Wish I could catch that hexadecimal code though my computer likes to "helpfully" restart the few occassions I actually do get a blue screen... Eh, let's see if I can snap a picture of it.

(Did notice a bit of periodic "blacking" near a lit torch, but then it settled out)

Current temperature of the video card (Without FF14 running): 30-32 degrees Celsius.
With FF14 running after a few minutes of strutting around: 34-39
Bit of combat and in Uldah: 35-40C
After more gameplay (and no crashing yet. Huh.): Average seems to be 38C with a max of 41C

And then the game properly froze my system right in the middle of a dungeon while I was beginning to feel optimistic. Feh.

problem is amd drivers. even if u roll back the driver and dont fully uninstall the other drivers u will experience the problem same if u upgrade it.

what i would recommend is to use a program like driverfusion to fully uninstall amd graphics driver before even attempting to installing latest graphics driver from amd. if u dont do this u will always experience this problem. the problem is to do with amd driver updating and uninstall doesnt remove all the old drivers from graphics card but seeing as it leaves some files sometimes it causes the error in the system to occur even if updated driver to new or old driver.

if u use the uninstall driver from amd it will still leave the old graphics drivers files somewhere on computer thats why i recommend to use program i written above

Sounds like a decent idea, one I'll have to try tomorrow. I'll certainly reply back once I do and report if it succeeds. ^^

That BSOD stop code will help greatly. We clearly don't have enough information without it, as of yet.

If you cant take a picture of it, have a pen and paper ready to record the code a few digits at a time.

If it is as frequent as you are suggesting, that should be of no trouble for you.

Side note: Most BSOD errors are caused by hardware issues, not software. If it only happens when playing XIV, that could indicate something like a videocard, power supply, cpu, or hard drive is (in layman's terms) being worked/overworked in a way that is causing it to break down and cry in its little computer corner. Causing the BSOD.

would u mind also using a program called whocrashed and click analyze and post the logs also so i can have a look at to see what else is problem. should be a free version available. once u run it on the page it has open should have what crashed with the codes and everything. just makes it easier figuring out the problem also forgot to mention it in earlier post

Well, finally got the proper clean uninstall taken care of, regretfully hasn't actually worked.

Inconveniently the majority of the crashes is a frozen screen and not actually a blue screen, which is rather inconvenient. Fairly certain that it is a conflict with the graphics card and FF14, just not too sure exactly what.

Haven't tried the "whocrashed" just yet. My current plan is to try to see if I can run FF14 on the integrated graphics card (which would also help provide evidence towards the graphics card issue).

...now if only the integrated could handle DirectX...
