Q3. Right now, only the class used to craft an item can repair that item. What do you think of this?

I found the result here quite intriguing. From the standpoint of convenience, it’s clearly better to do away with class restrictions for repairs. However, an overwhelming number of you—nearly 80%—said that you’re fine with things the way they are.

Question 1 under the Synthesis section revealed that around 70% of players are interested and/or involved in crafting. On the other hand, 80% indicated that they are fine with the current class restrictions for repairs. We can take this to mean that a third of the 30% who have no interest in synthesis prioritize immersion over convenience. We were thinking to do away with class restrictions depending on demand, but in light of this result, we’ve decided to stay our hand and keep an eye on trends for a while.

Make the repair UI better to do repairs easier and faster? yes
Make it that you don't need to equip the tool for repairs? no

Just totally forgo the middle ground and make us lose money from death depending on the quality of our gear.

That poll question doesn't really have all that much to do with the suggestion made.

A character who has fully leveled the relevant DOH class should be able to take advantage of that class whatever they are equipped as. That is not the same thing as a single DOH class being able to repair everything when they haven't leveled the relevant skills. I disagree with the latter (so would have voted 1 on that poll), but I fully agree with the OP's suggestion that if you have the required DOH skill to repair an item, you shouldn't have to change class to repair it.

I /facepalmed at these poll results when I first saw them tbh lol

"You eat what you sow"? or something like that, not good with English sayings lol

IIRC even YoshiP stated he didn't expect players to be so mazo lol

TBH, I think everyone expected for DoH to be more relevant than it is now, not just something as 'in between' crappy gear (npc ones) and best gears (coil).

At the very least (idiotic polls aside), they should make it so gear simply cannot break in instances. Have it drop to 1%, sure, it can even break the moment you leave, but while you're in the instance it should not break. Inconveniencing people like that is just ridiculous, people can claim its "punishing" player for not keeping track of their gear if they like. OK, fine. I get punished if don't do so, why exactly are three to seven other people being punished along with me?

I was one of the 1.0 players that took that poll and I voted for any craft class should be able to repair anything because I hated switching between 5 classes just to repair gear. When I saw the result I was like really who would vote to make the game more cumbersome.

Equipment repaired by a crafter will be set to a default of 199% durability, instead of the 100% from NPC repairs.

    Thats... Something, I guess...

Well, OK, it's damned awesome, but I still want repairing my own gear to not be such a cluster of menus (compared to NPC repairs). At the very least can we get a "Repair Gear Set" option? One that lets us select a gear set to repair and the current DoH we're on repairs whatever it can in that gear set?

Try it with the repair command in the Actions & Traits window

    Hello, everyone!

I believe I have some good news to share that was mentioned during the recent Letter from the Producer LIVE.

For patch 2.28, in addition to adding a nice advantage that will take your equipment durability beyond 100% when performing repairs as a Disciples of the Hand class, we’ll also be making it so that as long as you fulfill the criteria to perform repairs, you can do so without changing your class!
