    It's removed from damage we deal to enemies, not damage enemies deal to us. Enemies have no native resistance, we however, can.

    I know we can just cut out the middle man, instead of XI's elemental weakness/physical damage weakness... we could just turn all mobs into "rock type", "scissors type" and "paper type" and do the same for all weapons and skills, you could even have AoEs, think of it you could cast Scissorsga or Paper II! Instead of "Hundred Fist" you could have "thousand paper cuts"' though I guess you could make the case for hundred fist being rock, what with the fist and all...

    It the same thing isn't it?

    Players and bosses have the stats yes, but they are all set to "1", 1.1 with that behemoth ring that tries to be a very poor mans D. Ring from FFXI.

    I think the initial reason is stupid.
    If you fight Ifrit, nobody will bring a WHM over a BLM to DPS...
    And since I doubt monster will have multiple elemental resistance, with 3 several lines of spells, nukers will always be useful.

    It's not that they'd bring a WHM it's that they WOULDN'T bring the BLM because none of their most damaging spells would work against Ifrit. a BLM spamming Blizzard spells and Freeze would be doing very poor DPS. Just because we can level everything doesn't mean everyone wants to btw and just because you have the job at 50 doesn't mean you've geared it out. Your i78 BLM isn't going to be able to get into that i90 min PF your i95 DRG can. The flavor of the month bullcrap from FFXI should not start reappearing in XIV. I had multiple capped jobs in FFXI yet because of the jobs I chose to level I was relegated to BRD most of the time even though DRG and BLU were my bread and butter.

    I think they could at least make the summoner's pet resist stuff based on their element. So vs Ifrit it would be better with say Ifrit himself to take less damage from fire, or leviathan when he is added. You don't need to do more damage to choose something, it just has to have a benefit.

    But I guess they worry for all those party finder people who'd make a 8 SMN group and kill Titan Ex with 8 titan-egis. Because such things happen so often.

    I always had a theory (that with the lore) that due to Bahamut causing the Calamity, the aether went all out of whack and the elements were negated. Which is why the "elementals" from 1.0 turned into the pure energy and lost their fairy-like physical form (pure energy form just like what they looked like in FFXI).
