    As much as I enjoyed XI, XIV doesn't work the same way. XI had the subjob system (which would grant you use of all the abilities of that job that was subbed up to 1/2 your current level), which is completely different than what XIV does. Also in XI caster classes had a much wider assortment of spells. In XIV, everything is an ability, essentially there aren't spells, there's just ranged attacks and melee attacks; some ranged attacks look different to appear like magic.

    That's really all it is once you take away elemental damage. One one hand, it makes the combat system way more simplistic, yet with the way the jobs are set up they have no choice but to do this in order to not have certain jobs be excluded from content (which still happens anyway, just in a different way).

    i feel it could work later down the road at higher levels when jobs have more access to skills. they could potentially gain access to the other elements and it can work out. but if thats the case only the bosses for that level and up would have elemental wheels. but who knows

    I've always found it kind of odd how "certain Jobs might be excluded" is a reason against anything in a game where being able to level everything is one of the key selling points that sets it apart from other MMOs.

    Still, with everything already set in stone, it would be a massive undertaking to change at this point, so whatever. Hopefully we can get a Job which deals with the elemental wheel at some point in the future, similar to how Ninja worked in XI.

    I don't find it odd. I hate leveling other classes, if I'm required to have a bunch of 50s then I'm not going to play this game.

    It would surely cause balancing issues and they don't want that. Makes the game more accessible, but also less diverse. Currently, all elemental (and other) associations are purely cosmetic and therefore unnecessary and could be replaced with a simple magical damage category.

    if they removed the elemental resistances/weakness then why the hell are there still materia for it? makes absolutely no sense to keep 1 part of a removed mechanic.
