How to stop players from burning out

I have seen many hundreds of posts on different forums complaining about how many Brayflox HM runs they have to do to go from Atma to Animus. Too many myth!

I feel that the idea from the developers side was to make a big challenge that would take a long time. But they did not expect players to try and do this challenge in less than 2 weeks. Certainly not in 1 week! But many players have and those players that I know of that have animus have now shown clear signs of burning out. They do not feel that this game is fun anymore since they have bad memories from spamming myth runs.

The only way I see to make this challenge in a way that will not burn out players is to set a time limit. example: you can only complete one book per week, same reset as the raids.

Playing something else and not dedicating 100% of your time to FF14 is the single best way to stop yourself from not just being burnt out from books, but any content in general. A timer isn't needed because you can choose to do all 9 books in less then a week or more then a week depending on how you choose to play it.

Also helps not to rush things. Go at your desired pace and stick to it

Having an imposed limit is a tough pill to swallow for sure. "How can I speedrun this!?" The thing about the Zodiac weapons is that it wasn't meant to be acquired in 2 weeks, let alone 1.

Since obsession tends to win out over common sense most of the time, putting atma books behind a weekly timer is the only way I could see this from stopping burnout among players. And, really, SE would love to keep burnout. Keeps the game populated, you see.

Players don't want to burn out either. Not hard to see why.

The issue lies in people pushing fast and hard to achieve things and then claim burn out or what ever. Remember some people have addictive qualities. There needs to be an artificial bar from achieving things too quickly to save them from burning out. The Raid lock out is a perfect way to do things so they can enjoy other aspects of the game while they wait. Oh and how long of a lock out I am not sure. Once a week? Three days? *shrug*

Its impossible. When you design a MMO to be 90% endgame burn out will happen.

This game especially is the worst for "dedicated casual players". Most I know have all combat classes maxed, and a few have all classes maxed with nothing to do besides make money off MB.
