I am levelling ACN and I am not used to DPSing, so people calling for LB is useful because I usually forget.

The problem with saying it in chat is the fact that there are many, many, way too many... BLM/SMN who feel like someone is actually talking to them.
I cant tell you how many times this has happened to me..
I do understand that you may want to help a player who is in the run for the first time, but seriously if the melee has 4+ soldiery pieces you can assume that he did it quite a few times.

There are so many things that can go wrong if someone writes in party chat to use LB. Caster can use it, Tank can use it (this really happened..) or worst of all you are in a party with an complete ignorant who wont LB just because you told him to use it.

I ignore it when someone tells me to use the LB.
Because lets face it: I. Know. It. Better.
We know how much dmg the LB does. We know when the right time for the LB is. Specially if the Melee is a Monk. Dont bother telling a Monk what to do. A real Monk knows the fight better than you do. We need to know it better in order to max our dmg.

I find it funny the number of people who know their jobs better than anyone else ever. That tank that you know better than? His main may be monk or drg, or maybe he just knows something about the fight that you don't. There really are some people who call for LB's at all the wrong times, but just assuming you know things better than everyone else is a surefire way to never learn to be better than you already are.

Getting upset about someone telling you to LB is pants-on-head retarded. Do you know when to LB? Then do it when you are supposed to. Don't know? Then listen to them, if it's at the wrong time it's on them. Crying about people being a-holes about it doesn't help and you should get over it. Guess what? There will ALWAYS be people that are d*cks, if you get your 5th grade feelings hurt about it, maybe you should stick to 1 player games. Let them have their 5 minutes of perceived superiority and move on.

I main a dps and I can easily say I'm appalled by some of the comments here from other dps.

"If you tell me to LB I won't do it just to spite you." Really? That's beyond idiocy, that's just plain childishness. Unless a party member is telling you to LB something way WAY too early or something that really does not need an LB (quick example off the top of my head: first phase Ultima during Praetorium), there is literally no reason for you to withhold LB solely because someone told you to LB.

I honestly prefer to have someone remind me to LB during certain runs, as I can tend to forget and/or be unsure when would be the right time. Even if I've run a dungeon a thousand times over, I can still have moments where I'm unsure. So when someone tells me to LB, I don't take it personally. Heck I usually just say "roger" and go at it. If I feel like LB isn't needed, I'll say so in party (and most of the time I haven't had anyone trouble me over that).

I can say I prefer playing Bard just because the stress of needing to use LB at the right time/on the right boss isn't there. But really, the attitudes of some dps in here make me ashamed to play as a dps.

Nitpicking, but LB resets between phase 1 and 2 of Ultima anyways (and every boss of Prae starting with Nero, for that matter).

It makes more sense that they're trying to pay attention to what they're doing also, and so just type, "LB". I can understand taking issue if they're telling you you're stupid or otherwise being blatantly rude, or telling you to do it at the incorrect time, but for anyone to take offense (not necessarily you, but some of the general attitude I've seen in this thread) to "LB" is beyond comprehension. Considering how many people I've met in DF, of all jobs and roles, who I honestly thought might be about 10 years old, I will never go into a DF assuming that anyone there knows what to do and how to do it. When they do, it's a nice surprise and I make sure I thank them for the smooth run.

Also, just because you may know when and how to use it does not mean that every other dps out there does. For that matter, maybe the person typing, "LB" also has a "real' Monk and knows the fight just as well as you may. Going on assumptions about the knowledge/ability of a complete stranger is a mistake and it's not one that most people are willing to make when they're running the same content for the nth time, farming tomes or gear or whatever the case may be.

I know when to Esuna on my WHM and when to interrupt/silence on my PLD, but I don't get annoyed if someone feels the need to preemptively tell me to do it. Often, it's already been done or is in progress. I just figure they'd rather be safe than sorry. Maybe my skin isn't as thin as that of some players. I mean, in the grand scheme, is it really the big deal some folks in this thread are making it out to be? /shrug

I can count the number of DPS I had to remind to LB on 2 hands.

Can't say the same about the tanks that need to be reminded to use Shield Oath or the healers that will not notice their active Cleric Stance without someone telling them. And yet here they are, looking down on the DPS community.

Pretty much this. Unfortunately, it's hard (IMO) to trust random internet people, and I'd rather say "I told you to use it" when the blame comes if we wipe.
