I see bad players in every class. Maybe I am odd, but I don't go into every duty thinking everyone around me is terrible. I don't tell the dps to LB, and I don't tell the tank to use sentinel or hallowed ground. I do pretty frequently see someone spam LB in the chat when using it then would be a bad idea. I had one tank start flipping out at me when I used LB in the final boss of brayflox HM "OMG terrible idea, we're going to die WOW" then after the LB finished him off "WOW you got lucky, bomb would have killed us noob" Don't assume everyone you play with is incompetent until proven otherwise. So many big egos.

Aside from beating certain game mechanics, there are WAY too many DPS which sit on their limit break and only use it as a finishing move. What's especially funny is that if many of them actually used it sooner in the fights they could potentially build up a second LB as well.

Chances are that if someone has to tell you to use your LB then you're probably sitting on it like an idiot and only intend to use it when the boss is practically dead anyway.

If I'm telling someone else to use the LB, then they have in fact already messed it up.

    /shrug

Having said that, I find that I rarely need to say anything lately.

The problem isn't the players it's the mechanic. The LB mechanic is really poor design imho. Limit Break is meant to be a group mechanic not an extra ability/button for dps classes. Unfortunately it's poorly designed and so certain classes end up with this LB role in most fights in this game. This overall I feel is frustrating for all involved. It's frustrating for Tanks/Healers cause they see the mechanic; the gauge is on their screen. they may or may not know when it would be advantageous to do that mechanic. But alas they can't participate it in. Instead they just sit there going GAAAAAAAAAAAH! meanwhile its frustrating/stressful for the dps because it's an added role tacked onto them. It gets them unwarranted rage regardless if they know how to use it or not and makes them feel harassed. It's just a bad scenario.

And that's not putting into account the infighting when the wrong LB is used even with the best intentions. An example might be a white mage using LB to raise 4 dead people but we are in ultima hm so we need the tank lb for the orbs!!! RAAAAAAGE. The fact that the LB gauge is a group mechanic that 1 person can set off at anytime without confirmation from the group is just bad bad bad design. Add to the fact that it is used in two opposing scenarios: strategy (dps/tank lb) or reactionary (healer lb) that don't mesh well at all. And you've got the whopping mess that is Limit Breaks.

do you really want a confirmation that everyone has to click yes on in the heat of combat? if its already frustrating then why further complicate it? i would think bards are more frustrated than anyone being a dps with a healer lb lol

And? Many things are not needed to win fights, doesn't mean we shouldn't do them anyway to help the team or speed things up... You know, teamwork? XD

Protect is not needed to win fights so WHM shouldn't cast them? Can also go without Regen too, I believe can win fights without it too lol

I really don't understand why you bring your self ego into that situation, the party was just asking you to LB, like they'd ask anyone else for something else. Drop all the Ego, everyone are told to do stuff in the party, DPS is no different, teamwork is about communications.

That said, things do need to be told in a nice way, there is no reason to be rude ever...

And if you think you know better than the one shouting the LB, use it when you think it's best and explain why you did so after. That way he will understand and he will also learn from you for next time.

Because it's far better to tell someone something they do know than to not tell someone something they don't know.

No I would not. What I would prefer is if every individual had their own personal limit break gauge that they could use their limit break with. (obviously a weaker variant of what we have now). I'd then create special combo limit breaks that would be set off when 2 or 3 people used them at roughly the same time. (like if you hit yours while the other persons is casting theirs it will automatically combo with it.

Is this a perfect system? probably not I'm not a professional game designer for a reason. But imho it would be better than the clunky Limit Break system we have now.
