actually now that you explain your idea im all for it. tank lb plus dps lb could do damage with a short defensive debuff for the target or something. that would actually add new levels of strategy and party composition to spare us from the tired old melee dps lb boss/caster dps lb group. youve peaked my interest lol

Phantasy Star Online actually had a system very similar to this (From back in the dreamcast era.) Everyone built their own sort of limit break (I think it was called Photon Blast), and you could use yours alone and it would give you a certain effect (Depending on how you raised it, you coudl get a cone attack, a single target attack, an AoE fire attack, a heal, a single-target buff)

The fun came in when you all synchronized it. If you started casting your Photon Blast, and someone else started casting theirs, they would 'link' together. This would allow them to enhance and share beneficial effects to buff the entire party.

In this case, they did a photon blast using 2 attacks and a single-buff. The buff was shared with those who did it, and it gives a max-level buff instead of the one they currently had running. (Also, I used this video because BURNING RANGERS is awesome!)

And? Many things are not needed to win fights, doesn't mean we shouldn't do them anyway to help the team or speed things up... You know, teamwork? XD

Protect is not needed to win fights so WHM shouldn't cast them? Can also go without Regen too, I believe can win fights without it too lol

I really don't understand why you bring your self ego into that situation, the party was just asking you to LB, like they'd ask anyone else for something else. Drop all the Ego, everyone are told to do stuff in the party, DPS is no different, teamwork is about communications.

That said, things do need to be told in a nice way, there is no reason to be rude ever...

And if you think you know better than the one shouting the LB, use it when you think it's best and explain why you did so after. That way he will understand and he will also learn from you for next time.

Because it's far better to tell someone something they do know than to not tell someone something they don't know.

I think we just have to relax and take things more lightly.

My main is PLD, second WHM, third BLM. At first playing BLM I hadn't hotkeyed the LB, I forgot, until somebody asked me to use it, I clicked and clicked and it didn't work.

It depends very much on the place, you can be in a place you know very well (like OP in Brayflox HM) and know what to do and when, even then you may have incorrect or unneeded advice, you do what you know is best and that's it, and not get upset for it, especially playing with DF people.

Other times you are struggling to stay alive and avoiding AoE and don't have time to look at LB bar nor maybe chat bar. A LB reminder at the chat bar may be very useful then. Many times the one who has to use the LB is too busy to read the chat bar and doesn't use the LB anyway. I've seen it many times, two or three members dead, the boss with nearly no HP, a DPS with full LB bar, the dead ones saying LB, LB at the chat window, nope, wipe. But sometimes yes, he saves the day.

I don't mind people trying to help out by calling when to LB, but a very common mistake is people thinking the LB does more damage then it actually does. LB doesnt do 15% of the bosses HP, simple as that. Even worse is some random dumbass caster wasting LB because he thinks "its about as good as the melee dps's LB".

LB1 does about 5k in 4-man dungeons and LB2 about 10k. Anantaboga for example has roughly 80,000 HP, so LB1 is roughly 5%.

But wouldn't people then demand you save it to "link up"

A lot of us did that, and really, that's a very effective strategy overall. However, keep in mind, for 4-man content, the only two that would really need to 'link' are probably 2 DPS. And even then, if they both just used their own seperately, I doubt it would affect anyone negatively because let's face it - 4-man content is pathetic in this game.
