How is the Allagan equipment explained in canon?

So, I had a thought earlier. We know that the Allagan Empire reached it's peak some 5000 years ago on what is now Eorzea, and lasted nearly a millennium. From the third Astral Era, to the fourth Umbral Era. Races such as the Miqo'te and Hyur didn't wind up migrating to Eorzea until the fifth and sixth astral eras respectively.

That brings up the question, however, of how there is Allagan equipment specifically tailored to fit Miqo'te (Holes clearly meant for tails, that tail-less races lack in their versions of the gear.) and even the hulking Roegadyn. In canon, I could imagine us opening a chest and finding Allagan gear tailored to fit a Hyur, for example. Even if there were an Elezen in the party who rolled on it, canon dictates the armor removed was once worn by some one with the build of a Hyur, thus it fits that character. But what about Miqo'te? Do we just carry around some scissors or metal shears to cut tail holes into our gear?

On top of that, how is it we're actually able to repair the armor? I imagine the metals, cloths, and leathers used to originally craft the equipment would have been lost along with the empire. I always pictured them being made out of some brilliantly engineered alloys and fibers dreamt up by the Allag, and so I found it hard to imagine how it all made sense from a canonical standpoint.

I mean, sure, as far as the game mechanics are concerned it's just a necessity, but SE has been very diligent about giving a reason for almost everything. I can't help but wonder what the reason is for all this, if it even exists. Was Allagan society mixed? Were there Miqo'te that traveled across the seas before the great migratory waves?

As for the repairing, it's specifically a part of Dark Matter's lore that it can meld with *anything*. So that part is at least not an issue.

Can't help you on the rest, though.

Well, the same question could be asked of any gear acquired anywhere outside of an NPC vendor. When you craft gear and put it up for sale in the marketboard, who did you make it for? I'd assume you made if based off your own measurements, because you can wear it right after crafting, but then you put it up and say someone of a different gender or different size buys it. How is it that anyone, from a Lalafel to a Roe can buy any gear off Market an instantly wear it.
I think its not something that can be explained canonically since having to create different gear for every gender/race would be too much of a hassle. I would assume they took the D&D route to magic items and simply say that gear instantly resizes to the person wearing it.

We are all actually moogles, and we just perceive ourselves and others as being different races.

The one size thing is really a gameplay segregation from the lore.

If you really lose your immersion over it, just imagine you taking the allagan destroyed armor to the limsan armorer's guild and having it tailored to you in all it's former glory.

It's nanotech. It senses the physique of the person picking it up, and adapts to properly fit and protect them.

Lorewise, ancient civilizations in FF14 like Nym, Amdapor, Gelmorra, etc are inhabited by the SAME RACES we see today, chances are the Allagan E-M-P-I-R-E (empire means ur unifying or conquering a whole tons of other races living in subjugated territories besides ur main race) is composed of the 5 playable races or more. As for the magically suit the wearer or user instantly, logic wise, its hard to believe that a high tech civilization which created data plates or discs as indicated by the shape of those allagan tomestones, isn't capable of storing massive amount of same or specific type of gears in a single compressed chest (which shape is a high tech creation), however due to time and age, our toons might only found just ONE piece of the gear that is salvageable or is in good shape)

In short, when Allag fell, the only races present would have been Roe, Lala, and Elezen. The Mi'quote and Hyur are much more recent additions to the cast, so to speak.

When Third Coils of Bahamut is released I wonder what the names of that Allaghan Gear will be... I speculate, Supreme Allaghan.
