I still have a poster of Telara on my wall. My friend and I were talking about why Fates in FFXIV-ARR don't feel like the Rifts in RIFT. He said it was because Rifts were scary creepy looking with that big oogling monster tentacle thing. They were pretty fun at first but yes both Fates and Rifts get boring after a bit. After playing RIFT I appreciate how FFXIV made their Fates so all levels could enjoy them together. I also appreciate the dungeon finder in this game. Getting a dungeon in RIFT was impossible. What has been done in FFXIV-ARR is very impressive and well thought out. There is still a feeling like there could be more; new and different content would be very welcome tho I know realistically it would take a while to make. Since RIFT went f2p do they even bother with new content?

Correct me if I'm wrong but SE has given me the impression that they do intend to keep adding to FFXIV-ARR.

Keep adding? I'm pretty sure that adding to FFXIV will keep happening. The game has already had one major overhaul as I'm sure you know. That means, not only did the original game have all this money put into it, but since the game was having trouble, they put all this *more* money into it to make it a better game. I'm sure they are very sensitive at this point if the game is getting players or not as I'm sure the player base is too (Hence all the "something is wrong with FFXIV" forum posts. lol Square has always been known for their midnight hour/clutch moves to try and save the boat. That's the reason for the name of "Final Fantasy" as I recall. Wasn't it their "final" shot at being profitable before the company collapsed and it ended up the biggest thing they ever had done with tons of sequels!

Probably Valentines but I hadn't played from Nov - March.
Actually Easter did have FATEs, but it seemed like SE designed all those easter FATEs so only four players out of the whole server can beat it. It was that rare ( > . > I never even saw one on map and I was looking for them at the time.

Well it did have the "main" event avaiable for everyone, but why even bother designing content in an online game that millions players play but only handful of those players can complete is behind me lol

Anyway went a bit off topic, carry on XD

    As for me- When ARR started I had a new class to lvl, ACN, and I actually had fun lvling my ACN on dungeons while doing story and participating in random FATEs I came by. But after SE started to put FATEs on every little content, I came to dislike it. It's like SE wants me to hate their game (or a big aspect of it) ( ' - ' ;

They should have kept it optional side content and no one would get sick of it and hate it.

    Let's see...

Unless you really wanna get your grind on, there are alternatives to FATEs in many of the points you stated:

1.) Leveling up in this game you do FATES until you can do Dungeon.
Leves are now viable too, and you probably have a lot of them stacked up
hunting log pretty much gets you to 10, with the odd fate in between, when you come across them
Guildhests are now available for the one time bonus on every class

2.) Every Events you released is FATES related.
Meh, depends on how you look at it. Sure, some things have FATEs in them, but they also have other stuff. Beastman quests have a minimal amount of fates required, eg.

3.) Every Seasonal Event you released is FATES related.
Not completely, but why should SE discount a game feature completely from seasonal events? I mean, the odd fate isn't bad. It's the grind that's bad

4.) New Relic Quest is heavily FATES related.
I'll give you this one. Just moderate the grind while you also do other stuff, and it becomes bearable, unless you feel entitled to your atma.. But that's a whole different discussion.

    5.) Your Book required FATES.
Specific fates.. Again an entitlement issue if you feel it's too harsh to wait around for it, instead of checking every time you pass by the area once in a while

6.) You make us kill mob in book that required to spawn in a FATES.
I've yet to experience this one.

7.) You released Venture Adventure, but to level them up you need to do FATES to earn seals to buy Venture Coins.
Or, you can do meastman quests, which all give you one venture each. That's 6/day. Or, you can trade in Darklight items from Bratflox hm for 800 seals/pop, or you can do provisioning, or GC leves. There are lots of ways to get seals, it's only if you want a lot at once, that you have to resort to FATEs

8.) We leveling up our Chocobo through FATES since we can't carry them to Dungeon.
Or, you can just use it for normal and beastman questing, I mean. It's not like it's required to use your chocobo for anything, in order to overcome it. This is also an entitlement issue.

9.) We grind FATES to earn Seal
Already said there are lots of ways to earn seals, than doing FATEs

10.) We grind FATES to level up our Company and earn company seals.
And Dungeons, And quests, And Beastman Dailies, And just killing mobs normally. Pretty much anything in the game will earn you FC points.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I haven't got to the atma fate grind but the only I've felt "forced" to do fates was when working to get the first 2000 for a mount.
I need to do Fates so that I can buy a mount which allows me to do fate farming better....

2000 for mount would of been easier to do grand company hunting log. lot faster then doing fates for it seeing as u only had to kill 3 of each

Don't see the why Fates would bother anyone. Look past the name and you can see it stands for casual optional party content in open world. And stuff that you can optionally party up for in a casual way is very good for a MMO since you can play it the way your current play hours allow you to.

Then you have party free content as leves and party forced content like dungeons. So you can go either way you like with more or less casual play.

The biggest issue with FATEs isn't even related directly to FATEs but related to the battle system as a whole. If it weren't for the complete lack of "claim" in this game you could replace the word FATE with NM for ALL the single target FATEs. The mass monster FATEs are actually very reminiscent of Campaign battles from FFXI's Wings of the Goddess expansion or even Beseiged in a way. The seasonal events have so far worked a lot like FFXI's as well. Again remove the FATE term and it's no different to the suits of armor running around for Feast of Swords or the boxes during the Christmas event. Maybe they just need to start not using the FATE label and just fill the field with random spawned NMs and use the glowy spots and purple mist rings to trigger the seasonal event stuff like they do for most quests. Seems the word FATE is what everyone is raging over...

    9) You can do levelquests to get seals and IMO it's faster.

Got my mount doing GC levequests. Took about 30 minutes.
