Will we lose achievements? If so, would you want SE to store them?

I really love the achievement system in this game and I was just wondering if we will lose some of our achievements with this new patch.

For example every 10 physical levels would get you an achievement. And for people who started the game -right- at the beginning its kind of cool to look back in your history and see yourself reaching level 10 the day the game came out, or something similar. But now without the same leveling system I would understand if SE removed all of those achievements.

So i was wondering if anyone knows if we will lose these.
And if so, would you want SE to store them, maybe in a separate page.

I know it may seem really trivial to some people, but achievements can help people remember old memories and I really think they contribute a lot to the game.

WoW calls old achievements that are no longer possible "Feats of Strength". I.E. Being around for the anniversaries, getting killed by Deathwing in the open world when he decides to randomly and rarely torch an entire zone (still possible but will be unobtainable after Cata).

People don't like to hear it and that certainly wasn't the expectation, what we've been playing is more like an extended beta. Some stuff may completely change or disappear entirely. Better to not get too attached to anything. I guess it's possible they could just leave 'em there though. -shrugs-

And yea, I'm definitely not with ya on the "They contribute a lot to the game" part. But to each their own.

Look at how successful achievement systems are on the xbox, the ps3, WoW, etc. They create a sense of accomplishment and recorded history. So while people are playing they make accomplishing things satisfy the player more psychologically, and when considering returning to the game after a hiatus, they make players remember good memories and want to return.

I have never even looked at my achievements except accidentally.

It doesnt matter to me if SE just discards them entirely, but if it means so much to you I suppose SE should just leave them be.

If worse comes to worst you can just take a screen shot yourself as a way to remember your precious achievements by.

I don't want to lose achievements! They're a way to keep track of my activities. Being able to look back and see when I did certain things is a luxury and it would be a shame to scrap it. If anything, in the (far) future I'd like to see some sort of categorization to achievements or even rewards for certain sets. Of course, I'd like something like this on the burner wayyyyy back there after much needed adjustments and content.

I think people are forgetting something here. PS3 games are required by Sony to have achievements now. This means that if FFXIV ever does get released on that console, there has to be achievements for the game. Whether they remain as is or they are reborn in another way, point is, we're still going to have achievements. Technically, they could go the route of FFXI and only have achieves for the console players, but when there's already a system for the PC and it's not simply an afterthought years after the game has been established, I don't see why they'd remove the PC achieves. They might redesign and completely overhaul them, but I don't think they're going to toss them out completely.

I know what you mean, I actually busted ass to get to level 50 just to have the achievement for 1.18! (I incorrectly assumed physical levels were getting removed in 1.18)

A great point, but you mentioned WoW... So you're probably gonna get flamed soon.

Meh, anyone who bashes WoW at this point who hasn't played the game and participated in endgame is just a bandwagoner who is stuck in 2004.
