Camera Distance Forced When in Front of Boss Walls

    Hi,

I thought I was state this as an annoyance with the camera control. Normally if you're traversing the 3D environment the camera zooms in when needing to avoid blocking an object in between you and the camera.

For the most part, this works really well. However, in some situations like in boss fights where having your camera at max distance becomes very useful, it can be inconvenient to say the least when you move in front of the temporary wall that's put up to lock you into the fight. The wall I'm referring to is the purple/violet translucent one that's put up after starting a boss encounter.

    Here's a demonstration of the camera zooming in (6m 42s) :

The result is that some areas of the battle field give a good view point whilst others make it a lot tougher to observe the arena. The wall would not be in the way of the character at max distance.

yeah, it would totally help if they fixed this so you could still zoom out. What I do as a SMN is just rotate my camera around so it is facing me and the boss is in the "background" you can still see everything and dodge when you need too.

I find quite annoying as well, specially that I'm a BRD and I keep running around the boss, so camera shifts zoom in and out a lot depending on the position

Yeah, I hate when that happen with thats invisible walls I see more often in garuda ex running through the rocks with the zoom out at max and suddenly have the zoom nearest and you can see the rock dust or your clothes pixels... I'll be happy if thats walls will be removed on the future

Please don't forget about this issue community reps. It's not urgent, I just don't want it to be forgotten.

Happens to me in T7 quite often when getting Renauds in position. Makes it incredibly difficult to see when to start casting Miasma 1 on them

what they could probably do(which can prove difficult) is to probably make the object or wall behind your character transparent. worked for some games so it could probably work here as well

Yes this is pretty much my incentive on bringing up the issue as well.

It's not so much about the transparency of the wall that gets in the way, it's that the camera itself is forced to zoom in close to your character eliminating the large view of the battlefield.

I think she's suggesting a fix. It wouldn't be a good view if you're not autozoomed and the wall is blocking your view and you can't see yourself.

I went to U'ghamaro Mines last night and in a rare thing happened. A glitch caused me not to autozoom. It's a good thing that the walls became invisible as I can still see my character. This actually made it easier for me to fight the mobs in the area. Unfortunately, it went back to normal mode afterwards.

I see what you mean now. Yes having 1-sided transparency objects would be useful for small areas. Perhaps there could be an option to disable the auto-zooming as well.
