I did like your idea though! It'd be interesting to see how they would pull that off! I just don't see them doing it, because it IS SE and we know them to be stingy :\

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.
Well, the world is going to double in size by the time the vanilla ends. This paired with the redesign of the existing areas.. it may not be called an expansion but it sure as hell is going to takeas much resources to pull off.

I sure as hell hope so. I wonder how long it will take them to rework the existing areas..I'm not a game dev (yet, going to school now) so I don't know the process. I know it's a big undertaking though.

It takes them half a year to prepare new armor models, and that is fairly standard in the modeling scene (not to mention SE's 3D artists are geniuses).
That doesn't mean redesigning areas takes exponentially longer, but as you could imagine it's a larger project that is usually only started when the company is preparing an expansion pack ahead of time. Usually the development starts as soon as the previous expansion has shipped (XIV's artists were working on new areas for an expansion before the management shakeup).
Needless to say they probably aren't working on said expansion at this point.

Well that's good. At least I know it won't be like 2 years or something before we see the new Eorzea! I hope they do a really good job with it. But, alas, I am getting off track. It takes them half a year to prepare new armor models, and that is fairly standard in the modeling scene (not to mention SE's 3D artists are geniuses).

I do like how much Yoshida seems to be trying to get his own personality out there. He's been posting loads on the JP forums, and since he's been doing interviews it's obvious he wants people to know things are coming. However, when the time for the PS3 release is ripe, he needs to go beyond the lodestone, past the jp only interviews, and get over to America and do some interviews and demos. I'm also curious if they'll be showing us something new when Tokyo Game Show hits around September 15th. I would imagine so.

I use IGN for most of my game reviews and when 14 came out they gave it alot of attention. They had a week worth of small "reviews" that touched on different aspects before releasing their actual review. To be honest, it felt like they very much wanted to like this game.
i know that sounds off topic, but what im getting at is that with the proper advertising and re-introduction to critics and such, it's not like people arent willing to advertise via word of mouth. If they advertise properly and re-introduce this game to the media in the right manner, the places we go for our gaming info should have no problem putting out the word that this game is much improved.
Square doesnt have to work overly hard to get the news out. They just have to do more than they did the first time around

You're right. I just hope they really try. It's as if they expect their brand name to completely carry the product. Which, I'll admit, most of the time is does. But, seeing as this is a rerelease of a game that got ridiculously awful ratings, they gotta make sure they do something. Now, I'm sure ZAM will be making sure it is informing it's visitors simply because they have an entire section built just for FFXIV. They want it to be good. And like you said, I think IGN wants that too and I hope someone from over there is still watching!I use IGN for most of my game reviews and when 14 came out they gave it alot of attention. Now correct me if I'm wrong but didn't yoshida do some US fan site interviews a while back? Eorzeapedia, ZAM and FFXIVCore if I recall correctly.

Yeah he did, which was great. I hope he does it again, but for the PS3 release. However, I want him to show off the new stuff, not just talk about it. People should be wowed by how much it's changed by that point.
