And this isn't off topic? I'm just saying!Only 2 constructive posts? The question wasn't saying or implying it was or wasn't ready for advertising, just what they should do when it gets to be that time and how to help promote the games... Way to get off topic most of you just so you can have a chance to complain more LoL Here have a tissue xD![]()

SE advertising is great and all but the interviews and whatnot you mentioned are more important than anything. If people don't know that things have drastically changed for the better then people simply aren't going to care even if they do see advertising. I've been letting the people at my local gamestop know that the game is drastically changing and that come PS3 launch it'll be great. Every time I go in there we discuss it for a few minutes at least. Most having not played XIV they simply know what they've heard, that it's awful.

Very true, only have 2 RL friends I ever got to play with on FF 14. The bad press and bad word of mouth makes the rest not even want to touch it and they also naturally don't keep up with news regarding the game.SE advertising is great and all but the interviews and whatnot you mentioned are more important than anything. On a side note I think it's a good idea to get the game before subs or ps3 start up again as I'm sure they'll sell the game for its normal or near normal price. It's as low as $5 in some places cause it doesn't sell and alot of companies throw it in their bargain bin items. Hoping they don't charge for the xpac either, as much as they are hurting I think they need the expansion as basically a free downloadable to get even more trust back from the people. After they release that THEN they can worry about revenue!
Edit: Way to cut my post ShinChuck, I did in fact contribute. Suck it up already!!! Go read the rest instead of being sidetracked by your insecurities lmao Have anything constructive to say? Nope didn't think so *facepalm*

You contributed, he contributed, why you gotta try to make yourself feel so special on the internet?

Interim solutions are for pansies.

My original post was constructive, IMO.
I was sidetracked by my insecurities? You could've been the bigger person, cut that first part of your post, and been ENTIRELY CONSTRUCTIVE instead of accusatory. Instead, YOU felt the need to point out how everyone else WASN'T, which is counterproductive to your own argument. That's on you, and you're still doing it - pot, meet kettle.

Now we really are getting off topic, warranted or not.
On topic:
Yeah, I'm trying not to be TOO optimistic because this is in fact SE. While I do appreciate what's been going on lately with their giving of information, and the battle updates being seemingly nice, I still try not to give them too much credit just yet. Not TOO much anyway. lolI think it solely depends on what their ETA for the server, engine and MAP layout fixes are. Once those are out of the door, the rest of the features can be implemented relatively easily and fast (within three months).
I think it's safe to say that the battle system and the overall game design will be close to finished by the end of the year. But I wouldn't be too optimistic to see the three largest fixes to be out of the door during this year. How long does it take to make an expansion? A year, a year and a half? That's the timeframe we're probably looking at.
It's not a bad thing though. We'll get lots of content during the waiting period, within the limitations of the current engine and server however, but still.
I just hope we can at least call the things to come something what of the "Rebirth Expansion". Not something we had to pay for, but big enough to be considered it's own Expansion in a way lol.

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.

Fair enough, I'm done.
I really do think an enhanced social presence would do a lot. The Producer's Letters and community reps are nice, but the free advertising stuff like Twitter and Facebook can offer is pretty hard to argue with.
I wonder how important it might be to go after the fanbase who left? I mean, what about some sweet extras for those who get the PS3 version, or an FFXI event with a FFXIV re-release theme? Maybe like some tie-in what-if storyline? I'm not entirely sure it'd be worth SE's effort to market to XI players, as I imagine there's probably a lot of overlap already, but maybe enough have gone back this would entice them to give it another go?
Maybe throws in free trials with other Square Enix releases? In this day and age, it wouldn't be hard to have the PS3 version downloadable as well, maybe throw a free month trial (assuming they're charging by then) with releases like XIII Versus or -2?
I also liked Rift's comic book prequel tie-in, and their "We're not in Azeroth!" anymore tagline, but I don't know if that's a direction SE would like to go.

They added in that tagline because they felt you really needed to be constantly reminded of that fact otherwise you'd think you were!

Well I'm sure most players who went back to FFXI are probably still keeping up with updates and such, or have friends informing them of when they should come back, stuff like that. What I'm worried about is that audience SE has been trying to capture since before release. The non-XI players are few and far between. Every single person in my LS came from FFXI and played for over 4-5+ years. While that's good and all, I'd like to see new blood. If they want the Ps3 version to be the saving grace, they need to get themselves out there PAST their own product (FFXI) because people in FFXI already know about it.Fair enough, I'm done.

Fair enough, was kinda thinking that, just throwing ideas out there. Personally, I DO think an XIV-theme XIV event would be neat, but I agree, it's probably not worth their time and effort when all is said and done.
