Why does Square hate Miners so much?

    So,

I just got my new pickaxe today, so I was looking at what was required for the new crafts. It literally boggles my mind. 1 ore. 1 ore is all that is required for any of the crafts. Why in the world does square insist on making miners so incredibly worthless.

Why would it be so bad, to say, require 30-40 ore from the world and just ditch myth grinding for mats all together? We already grind myth for EVERYTHING else. Why in the world do we have to grind it for materials also?

Beyond that, I still can't fathom why the new recipes only require 1 ore from miners. We can get 15 per node, and you require 1 ore. 1. I just don't get it.

Still sells well. You need to consider there is a decent amount of crafters out there. I've been selling gold ore in chunks of 5 or so and it tends to sell out within minutes of putting it up. HQ more than NQ at that.

The new ore does NOT sell well. It's been selling for around ~50 gil on my server. Most for any type is ~100 gil a piece. The OLD ore does sell decently (maybe 200-250). But relative to the 1-2 mil crafters can make for the finished product getting 50 gil an ore isn't that appealing.

Considering the time it takes to get to the 2 star mining nodes, it was not balanced at all.

OP is referring to "Ferberite" "Native Gold Ore" and "Raw Ruby" and "Topsoil" for anyone thats curious. In my experience the Ferberite and Raw Ruby's and Native Gold sell for at least 2k HQ on my server. Ferberite is the only material that is really required due to Wolfram Ingots/3Star Armor, and sells at a higher rate. The others are simply for Housing Furniture/Mount items. With the exception of Native Gold having 1 recipe (Gold Spectacles i90 Healer headpeice)

All in all i dont think they inteded these new 2star nodes to be a major increase in profitability. Miners benefit more in selling the 1Star items HQ Volcanic Rock Salt, Darksteel, Gold Ore. As well as the lower level items that can be mined in bulk (Black/White Allumen, Cobalt, Silver, Mythril Ore)

If you focus all your efforts on the new ore and have enough gathering/perception stats to reliably get HQ's you should be abble to make at least 20-40k per hour (Ferberite, Native, Ruby alone) mining these unspoiled nodes. Which is not that bad if you factor in selling clusters/1star nodes as well. You should be able to net at least 50-60k per hour doing this. If you have a Botonist you can mulitply that x2. Not bad at all for a strict gathering business model.

I was really pissed at that too... I got both miner and botanist master tool for my own consumption but since haven't crafted much 3 star gear because I need my myth for atma books. So I tried selling my ferbelites, native golds, raw ruby, etc.
So 2 things that is really irritating:
    - as you mention, crafters only need few ores to crafts the 3 stars so for every 1M they get from selling their 3 star item at the moment, less than 10K goes back to the gather that still spent a fortune melding his gear.
    - because the 3 star item market is so expensive and in low demand, our ores don't sell... plus, only the HQ version sell since they're required to have a decent chance to HQ the end product.

So while I think the person in charge of the DoH design lead does a pretty good job making crafting an interesting and rewarding activity, the DoL lead just make Gathering dull, a time sink, and very unrewarding...

its true I'm a miner as well as a crafter and I would never go gather the new stuff when I can buy it cheaply,.

but it will pick up once the 3 star stuff becomes more popular and cheaper. however it will never have a high price until there's more synths that need these items.
