No freaking addons! Ok, official I can buy but no damn Curse bullcrap. That was one of the things that took me off WoW. You HAD to have this addon and that addon and if you were x class you had to have addon 1893 and if you were y class you had to have addon 1938, 3238 and 0019 and if you were class z you had to have addon 1893, 3238. This in addition to 10-20 "basic" addons. I say no to this.

The whole point of DBM is so that people know when mechanics are coming up so that they can react before they happen.

You can have people on a VoIP constantly call out phase changes in fights, landslides in Titan, twisters in Turn 5, and Devours in Turn 6 yet DBM simply cuts out the middle man since not everyone can multi-task properly.

Now if you can't react despite being told when a mechanic is gonna happen then that's not DBM's fault nor is it the person calling it out over a VoIP.

I'd like to see PVP with objectives other than kill each other, stuff like WoW's Battlegrounds. I could literally play Warsong Gulch for days.

Sure, you're comparing a 9 year old game to 9 month old game... but...

You're also comparing a 2004 game to a 2013 game that got the opportunity to learn from WoW and every other MMO that came out during that nine year span. They got to study every single success and failure from every other MMO, including their own MMO's. It's not like FFXIV:ARR started from scratch. And in case you haven't noticed, this entire game is made from the mould of WoW.
This argument is also pretty stupid. Even if you have the knowledge of another game, it will still take a considerable amount of time to replicate said activities. You still have to research games, create AI algorithms, create PC and NPC models, create the world and subzones, code the gaming environment, then implement testing of your own creations and then compare it with other games, then make changes and code again. I'm honestly glad some of you people will never have anything to do with game creation or development; you'd all be terrible developers with your snap judgement ideas and theories.

And yes, FFXIV:ARR did start from scratch, the engine was built up from the ground, while they continued to update 1.0.

The ARR engine was created, among other things obviously, to address latency, lack of responsiveness and animation lock issues during combat, it still hasn't achieved that, so far it's mostly failed at what it set out to do in that regard. In regards to the animation issues and lack of responsiveness it's by design, it's bad design, a shiny new engine can't fix a flaw that's been implemented and deemed good by design.

It's even more obvious in fights that need you to kill things quickly, say an add needs to die really fast, as a Monk you want to use a Steel Peek, Howling Fist, Mercy Stroke and your buffs in between whatever GCD you're in, so you press them once and nothing happens, so you keep mashing a key or button until it goes off, sometimes those abilities won't go off at all until the GCD is ready again. In WoW you just press a key and an instant ability goes off instantly every time, in ARR that doesn't happen consistently at all, that's a really bad design decision and something that should be improved.

Before I really jump in this thread and that means I did not read all 8 pages yet, I'm going to just toss this out now and I'll remove it if I see it repeated.

When you want to compare WoW and FFXIV, try to remember something. FFXIV 1.0 was not designed around WoW elements, it was doing it's own thing. 2.0 is more WoW'ish because thats how Yoshi and his team designed it, for players who have been MMO hopping and did enjoy elements from WoW (among other titles) could enjoy XIV as well.

Now, that part mentioned, also remember that XIV 2.0 is less than a year old. It was a total overhaul from 1.0. They rebuilt their servers and the way things function from the ground up. While some things remain the same in the transition, much did not. Like 90% is different.

Now, if you're going to compare, try to think back to WoW's FIRST year, then compare.

    Carry on.

I've got more complaints about FF14 than I do wow tbh. Warcrafts only crime is being stale nowadays. And while I feel FF is a better game, it could really be much better.

My largest complaint about FF14 is the invisible walls, everywhere... One of my favorite things about an MMO is exploring and wandering, which wow gives you in zounds.

Better raid tiers. Even WoW's smallest raids (not counting ones with only a single encounter such as Onyxia and Eye of Eternity) had more than 4 bosses. 4 bosses per raid tier is just...you gotta have more than that to keep the core crowd interested. Either that, or multiple difficulties. WoW kind of went overboard recently with difficulties, but something like WoTLK's Heroic/Hard modes would be very welcome. So long as they were on a separate lockout.

Beyond that, I think they need to focus on pumping out a steady stream of non-raid content to do during offtimes. Oh, and add some customization...30 stat points is all I got to customize my Job, and that's depressing.

Why does everything have to be like Wow? Seriously, I'm getting so sicks of everyone want the game to be like Wow and so many wow clone game out there. It just ruined the MMORPG genre. Wow is gonna died in another couple of years anyway. I only play Wow for a couple of Month and never get into it anyway. FFXI however I have play for 8 years.
