Final Fantasy XIV Online: Rebirth Teaser

Greetings all! I have recently completed a significant enough portion of the trailer for Final Fantasy XIV to create a teaser version for you all to see. This trailer is intended to be a means of selling FFXIV after patch 1.20 has gone live. So some segments are reserved for patch 1.19 and 1.20 footage.

When the final version of the complete trailer is ready, I intend to release both English and Japanese versions.

I remember when you has posted the longer version of this, I liked it but I still don't feel like the .hack music really fits.

I admit it is a dynamically different style compared to most Final Fantasy tunes, but I have always thought that this tune represented FFXIV's "impending dramatic" nature rather well.

P.S. I wouldn't mind if Hitoshi Sakimoto composed a new soundtrack for my trailer, lol. I loved his work in Final Fantasy 12.

not bad, i would have liked to see some more of the intense stuff aka the ifrit cutscene and the final cutscene with baelsar. Other than that though, good stuff!

Gaius Van Baelsar, you mean? Yeah, they're in the final full version. Remember, this is a teaser of things to come.

If I were to suggest a replacement song it would be this one:

It may seem a bit odd to use this games opening theme (and the theme tune of almost every final fantasy game to date) to use as a 'rebirth' tune, but this particular composition of the theme oozes grandieur like a curry oozes flavour. It stands up and announces "What you are witnessing, and what you will experience should you partake in what we are showing you, is legendary."
Let's be honest, the fact that Square Enix decided that instead of giving up on this game and allowing it to sink into a mediocre MMO that gets little to no content updates, they decided to pour heart and soul in to turn into the rebirth your trailer depicts, and thus is history in the making and legendary in it's own right.

Perhaps begin the tune around the 1:22 mark where the full orchestra kicks in to full swing, it always makes my spine tingle to hear so many instruments suddenly building up to being played with so much energy and power.

I'm not a fan of Nobuo's style, as it doesn't really create a very strong "sequence" of musical events, from my perspective. It also doesn't seem very... "battle-esque", so that doesn't help that track's chances of being used.

I'll honestly say I liked it. I'd recommend that when the words "The seventh umbral era is nigh" you then go into more dark scenes instead of Gridania cutscenes.

The moogle doesn't match up with the sense of insecurity that those words bring. You could include images such as the dragon from the opening CS (Though you might not want to do this as it seems you're sticking strictly to in game cutscenes). I think the best part would be to include the scene from the R46 mission. Don't show too much of it, but just the part with the fog and you can't tell if the figure walking through it is dead or alive yet. That would match up very well with the phrase "The seventh umbral era is nigh"... you could include the scene with the Ascian from the cutscene just prior to the ifrit quest. All in all just darker scenes to accompany those words. Just ideas.

You did excellent on the "age of peace comes to an end". Images of the parade and the lasting image of F'lhaminn presenting a flower really coincide with the words nicely. The "the empire begins its march" is also accompanied by good visual material.
