I have a generic USB keyboard which is recognized by my ps4, but when I log in to ff14 and hit enter to type, nothing happens! Should I get a new keyboard? It's just like a $10 best buy cheap one. Or is there some button I need to click to activate it.
I read you don't hit enter, you just type firs then press enter to send your message. I just picked up a Logitech last night but have yet to log on since my vacation. I'll bbl to let you know.
My brand is Lenova... I can't type with it. I'm debating going to best buy here in a bit and getting something else.
It's lit up in yellow next to it, should it not be?
If that option is marked, then you don't need to hit Enter in order to begin chat. Just start typing and it will go to the chat box.
(If you didn't have it checked, then you'd use Enter to move focus to the chat box. That would allow using the keyboard alternately both for chat and for keyboard shortcuts.)
I'm currently using a Logitech K400 with my PS4. It's nice and small and does well enough for chat.

Some of the keys started acting funky so I'm thinking of trying out the MS All-in-One Media Keyboard that came out. Also the right shift key on the Logitech is a little small and annoying sometimes.

Either way, if all you want to use it for is chatting and simple mouse functions, they both should do the trick.
I just went to best buy, got a new Logitech wireless board and mouse for $25 total, plugged em in and worked no problem. Guess it was my cheap Lenova board my ps4 hated. So much better now.
