Suggestion: Retainer gear should either not bind or spiritbond speed should increase

I really enjoy sending my retainers out in their Sunday Best™ but it's really frustrating to have them go through 5 levels and their gear be spirit-bonded to 1%. After 5-10 levels, I'd like to be able to outfit them in better gear, but the investment I've made in their previous set is gone (basically). I either have to spirit-bond it to 100% myself or vendor it.

I would really love it if retainer gear would not bind to them, or the spirit-bonding speed increased when they went out on ventures.

Thanks for considering this, please "Like" if you agree.

It's unclear whether you're aware or not, by what you've written, but it's not going to go past 1%. It just goes to 1% to bind, and that's it. It will not go any higher.

Interesting, I didn't realize this. That's really unfortunate, because it's frustrating that the gear is bound to you. My retainers are BOT/MIN and I've got both those jobs to 50, so their gear won't really do anything for me.

I can't Market Board their gear, so I'm stuck having to vendor it.

Thanks for the info, but I'd still love to see the gear not bind or actually allow it to increase in spiritbonding level.

You could always go to Urth's Gift and SB it yourself.

I got all my retainers to lvl50 before I bothered crafting a full set of gear for them. and all the while they were levelling I kept the gear to the barest to actually do the venture.

there's lots of cheap gear on the 5lvl intervals on mb due to people selling of gear they get from guild/mission progression.

plus I mainly used the selectable gathering type ventures until hitting 50, now I use quick exploration a few times a day.

The reason it binds to 1% and never any higher is because its a Gil Sink. More than likely it will not be changed.

It's on puprpose indeed (even explained in the patch notes) and frankly it's not even worth bothering with purcahsing or making the (full or even partial) sets until they hit lvl50 - I've simply recycled for each retainer some of the items I've already had (you can even use those completely "broken") just to meet minimum requirments or in worst case jsut crafted one gear item here or there to keep then running. And as mentioned above, you can always spirit bond it later yourself, take basically no time if you do it in pats during your normal dungeon runs or any other usuall activity.

When I upgrade my retainers' gear, I stick their old stuff in my inventory and spiritbind it when I have the time. Then I turn it into materia. Works pretty well that way.

Pretty much this. I kept my miner in the minimum amount of gear needed to do the gathering I wanted to do.

My Gladiator had random Aetherial stuff that I Need rolled from dungeons. Now he's wearing Armor of Light. xD
