I played a hume in XI and while I enjoyed it, I wanted to keep those memories apart and special. Besides, I'm a human in real life so why would I want more of that online? So I chose one of the most beloved NPCs from a D&D campaign I ran who was a halfling named Charmin Yummyberry. He was a bit hapless, tried to be fun, and otherwise was pleasantly received. So I chose Lalafell and never looked back. As the lore around the Lalas unfolded before me in 1.0 and on I was really impressed that XIV didn't pidgeonhole lalas as all sweet and innocent fair folk. There are some of those but others are ruthless merchants, scholarly scions, fishers, pirates, and more! Plus, by being so small you literally get an entirely different perspective on the game when it comes to visuals and plot.
