Why you decided on your race (lore perspective)

I play as Hyur Midlander for two reasons:
The first one is because I wanted my avatar to look like me, so he actually has my height (and, although I have the average height for an adult male in my country, I'm always really tiny compared to other people in game hahaha), a haircut that looks like mine, same hair and eyes colour, etc.

The second one was because the midlanders have average status. I noticed that the difference between the races was not thaaaat big and basically it didn´t affect the gameplay, but I thought that games that focus on one character for the main story usually make this character really flexible regarding their abilities, so I chose the race that didn't have pros and cons.

I was a cat boy at first.Then tried to be a Roegadyn and didn't like it. Now I am an Elezen and I like it. I choose Duskwing because I like their story and also because I am black in real life.

Keeper of the moon actually fits me quite good I think. IRL I also am mostly nocturnal. Menphina the lover would also be considered my favorite of the twelve. If I'd have to chose an element it would be ice. AND my IRL birthday fits with the month that is associated to Menphina as well.

I really didn't think about the lore when I created my character. I played FFXI for many years as a male Hume and I really liked it but when I started playing FFXIV ARR, I wanted something different from just a regular Hume. I started playing ARR as a female Roegadyn because I thought they looked pretty cool ( I still do!) but over time I wanted to change to something else. I always have a VERY hard time to decide what to play as but now I am a female Elezen with BRD as my main. No Regrets. I have a second character, a male Miqo'te, with the same name and haircolor as my FFXI character because I really felt like reviving him but in another form. : )

I chose Dunefolk Lalafell because I had a strong vision of what my character should look like.

Light brown skin, slightly curly silver hair, perpetual blush and a blind left eye. 'Dune'folk caught my eye strongly is all.

And lalafells looked real cute. I wanted to convey a sense that my char had a boyish charm (perpetual blush) so being a midget was quite integral.

I set his height as the shortest, and had had his ears longest but since fantasia'd it into a more reasonable length.

All in all, I love his general aura of carefree, everyday medieval kid look he has in his BTN gear.

IIRC, Gaius mocks you before his Praetorium battle wondering why someone not from Eorzea like yourself (adventurer) would sacrifice so much to defend it.

I started with "I want to play a femRoe because they're amazing." I then added "I want to make a character loosely inspired by Asami Sato from Legend of Korra because she's amazing." Hellsguard really did not fit, but Sea Wolf? PERFECT.

Of course, I didn't make her look much like Asami, other than being totally fabulous and classy. But it was a decision about lore, about character background, not looks.

I decided to play as a female Keeper, mainly because the Miqo'te were the race that looked the most attractive to me, (I have no idea WHY), but also because I was planning on living in Gridania (Which is primarily populated by Keepers and not Seekers), as well as the fact that male Miqo'te may as well be nonexistent. I'd play as a Male Keeper if they actually realized people would want to play as them when they made the game, but...
