Picked HL because there aren't a lot of 'older' looking non pretty boy esque characters in FF games. I could of went with Roe but I felt HL was more balanced as the gear looks the most aesthetically pleasing to me on hyur races.

I played a hume in XI and while I enjoyed it, I wanted to keep those memories apart and special. Besides, I'm a human in real life so why would I want more of that online? So I chose one of the most beloved NPCs from a D&D campaign I ran who was a halfling named Charmin Yummyberry. He was a bit hapless, tried to be fun, and otherwise was pleasantly received. So I chose Lalafell and never looked back. As the lore around the Lalas unfolded before me in 1.0 and on I was really impressed that XIV didn't pidgeonhole lalas as all sweet and innocent fair folk. There are some of those but others are ruthless merchants, scholarly scions, fishers, pirates, and more! Plus, by being so small you literally get an entirely different perspective on the game when it comes to visuals and plot.
I was originally hyur, but swtich to a Seeker Male.
Lore-wise I saw lot of Seeker (male and female)npcs. And many we in positions of authority.
I chose Hyur Midlander because that is what my sister chose before I got a hold of the game... I wanted us to be sisters in-game too. lol.
It's a little boring, but nice because it's a very versatile race and I can play around with back-stories in my head. Our father is playing a Highlander, so that adds interest. The rest of my friends playing are not Hyur, so figuring out why we came together is fun!
Black Mage is my favourite job right now. I love gil, it makes me happy. I enjoy dry landscapes and deserts. Lalafell Dunesfolk seemed like the perfect choice for me!![]()
Maybe I'm a Cactuar
I chose female Roegadyn because I wanted to make my MMO main I've been using ever since DAoC back on '01.
Gralna was originally a female Valkyn, a tough looking semi-cat race, she had light red fur/skin, and dark red hair. I was originally going to make her a miqo'te, but they just seemed too "cutesy" and didn't honor the spirit of her character at all. Then I saw Hellsguard and they had similar skin tones available to what Valkyns had, and their large, powerful aura was exactly what I was looking for, they even had the black area on underside of the nose that Valkyn also had.
Here is what Valkyns looked like after the Catacombs expansion

Before I choose Miqo'te because "cat person", but after the Fantasia came, I choose Hyur Highlander become my favourite race. Cuz, you know, bodybuilder *cough*.
Back when I started, I chose Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te since out of all the combinations I tried at the time, the character I created there was by far the one I liked the most of my various attempts. Must've spent hours trying different race and trait permutations! I do still sort of regret not noticing the ability to generate example names which is why Lennara doesn't fit Seeker naming conventions, but I eventually invented some backstory in my head to justify it because I'm a huge nerd and I care about such things.
I would say "I do find Seeker culture interesting though, after playing the game" but that's true of most of the game's sentient races in general (and not just the playable ones) for me.

I was totally on edge about what race I preferred eventually I became more opinionated about what races I would prefer I still have not decided what my number one race is but currently I am a Elezen Wildwood
This here is a list of Races that I prefer over the others so far.
1. Elezen Wildwoods
2. Elezen Duskwights
3. Mi'qote Keepers of the Moon
4. Hyur Highlanders
5. Roegadyn Sea Wolves
6. Roegadyn Hellsguard
I do have my reasons of course because that is the purpose of this thread. For one I simply like the Elezen as a whole basically because they are Elf like and in my opinion more elegant then the other races. I am not a big fan of the Mi'qote but I like the Keepers of the Moon they just to me seem less wild and more serene compared to the Seekers of the Sun and I simply just like the moon. I don't usually like playing as Human characters but I like the Highlanders because they are just all Viking like and I like those kind of characters. I like the Roegadyn as a whole just because they look badass you know and also because they have skin colors that are unique to their race.
