I'm sure such classes will come out in expansions, we just need a decent game to start with!

Definitely bring them back..!!
They're much more appealing to me than what we currently have, they're some of my fav jobs.
Although as last post mentioned, i'm sure they'd come out sooner or later, main focus now is to get the game to a decent stage.
The map/terrains/areas, battle system, jobs and abilities, animations. Whole lot to deal with and fix up before introducing new jobs.
I would actually hate to see Sam or Nin come into the game and have crap abilities and effects like current classes. That'd kill the experience.
I hope the new job system completely replaces the armoury class system and we see a new bunch of jobs with fresh new abilities that are actually satisfying, not just a mesh of bucketload of abilities that add little value to a job and mostly feel redundant.
+1 for Samurai!

Of course there have to be Samurais and Ninjas. This is Final Fantasy XI, right? Wrong. This is a different game. See the number after "Final Fantasy" on the box? If I'm reading correctly it doesn't say XI. It says XIV. That's three numbers after XI.
Also, I don't see samurais and ninjas fitting into the setting introduced in XIV. Perhaps if they added an oriental continent with a Chinese/Japanese-styled capital city, then I would understand. I want them to release Ishgard first, though.
Samurai is already part of the original content of FFXIV. It was at alpha already. So i'd expect that one of the regions not unlocked still (there are 4 in Eorzea already at line to be unlocked) being oriental-based.
Never knew that... was in Beta, not Alpha.
The problem that I have are people requesting content from XI to be in XIV. While I understand the idea of reincarnating a person's 7-year FFXI character in FFXIV, there need to be differences.
i rememeber reading somewhere that they planned on having each class have advanced jobs. that might be where these jobs may come from. also do we need a sam? what made them good in ff11 was that they were insane tp collection and ws usage.. its no longer a useful ability in 14 since every class can do it now,
It's opinions from people like you is why this game ifs failing....first of all almost all MMOs have these classes already in the game as standard ..what made ff11 diffrent was it had SAM and NIN.It is not about reincarnating an old character it's about making a new one with a shiny new katanas and the sound they make.It doesnt matter if they are the best damage dealer in the game or the worst it's just plain cool as shit being a SAM or NIN in a decent MMO.What you need to understand is people who played ff11 expect that there be similarities ...they want to feel the familiarities to a beloved game ...we all saw what happened when you try to fix crap that is not broken.... epic fail of a release. They should have taken all the things they learned from ff11 and used what worked and not listen to people like you who wants everything to be "different".
What you're saying contradicts the very plans of SE atm which is to bring back the traditional FF jobs. They already have them planned and are probably under development. They're doin this simply because they realize the current classes are hardly appealing to much people and fans just love the jobs they had in the past. Nothing wrong with bringing them back in, infact, they have repeated sam/nin jobs over and over in previous FF's, no one complained, it's fun.
This is not to say they have to be the same, but the idea of having such jobs is just very cool and appealing to huge number of people to the extent that it can make or break for some. I personally don't fancy any of the classes we have atm and i'm not enjoying game much due to that and i know many others that don't. Although frankly majority of the blame goes on the Crusty battle system/abilities/animations we currently have. Perhaps If they were done good, i wouldn't be thinking hard about new jobs like Sam and Nin now. Hopefully it will all improve starting with 1.18 with AA and new patches coming through. Looking forward to see how it'll turn out.
But yeah as you can see, Reinventing the wheel isn't always the best way.
I would note thought that I'd definitely like to see major difference in Sam or Nin if they come and i would naturally expect they will be.
