RL Girl here, playing male character. People who don't know me well call me a "he" all the time, and I'm not bothered one bit from it. To be called a different gender in a game shouldn't be offensive in any way. If it does sound insulting to you to be called a "he", then maybe you are the very root of your problem, for having something against guys and feeling so insulted being compared to one.
The internet is not a place for oversensitive people. Grow some tolerance, and stop being fodder for those rumors about gamer girls being drama queens.

The thing is that she is called the opposite of her characters gender. She even has a very feminine coded name. When I see someone with feminine coded name or have seen their avatar and see the person as a female I call that person she. Easy as thatRL Girl here, playing male character. Kimmy is not a very feminine name! Kim is a male and female name and Kimmy is a derogative of that. It's gender neutral at best.
fxt, it's derivative, not derogative.
Also, agreed, it might be considered female by many NA players, but like quite a few other names considered feminine over here, it's actually gender neutral for pretty much the rest of the world. A fair number of other names included(but by no means all of them), Kelly, Ashley, Erin(Yes, this spelling is actually gender neutral), and you know what...
Here's a link to a site with a good bit of info on this.

Except a name still isn't enough because a lot of players will at least try and name their character something that sounds like it fits. I myself am again a big ass burly man who's a bit intimidating irl yet I'm playing a female hyur with a slightly feminine last name. I don't expect to be called she though just because I chose not to name my character Jeff. I've been playing MMOs for years and still have yet to see a female character named Jeff or anything masculine so just because a name is feminine doesn't mean the player is a chick or someone that identifies as one
1) we don't control anyone but ourselves
2) waste of fkin brain power to make sure we assert the proper gender of an avatar to correctly address a person who , 99.99% of the time could not care less. All those people you meet spend a couple seconds thinking? Fk that I rather devote that energy pondering why my dog is do adorable

You want respond to that too? What should I add to it? I agree with most things that you say in that post, there is nothing to comment. The reason I use feminine coded here is because how names are usually written in MMORPGs. A person named Emelie I would assume is a female if I read the name. I might be wrong tough on and in case I am I correct that but should I call everyone it before I have seen their avatars? Sure I might do, but it feels very impersonal.
Other than that I agree with what you say, but my issue is the fact that people calls obviously female avatars "he". You can circumvent that part with any ramble you want to. But understand that that is the core of this argument.
For everyones information: I know Kim is a male name aswell, but I did not know it was common to call them Kimmy, I though that was almost* exclusive to females.
*as in that cases exists and that there are cases when they are but that the majority was female so that the logical conclusion would be that the character is female
It is stupid however that you pick everything to talk about except the core of the discussion: That people call female avatars he.
