Additionally, if you hold your autorun button and press up/down on the dpad it will cycle through the monsters on your enemy list. Pressing X on the new target before using a skill changes that to your locked target instead. It may seem difficult at first but once you get used to it I think you'll find that ffxiv has the best controller scheme ever designed for an MMO.

I used the digipad before, for the "light" switching, it was set to "up/down" for NCPs & co,, left/right for enemies..

but if I hold L1 (autorun botton), and use the d-pad it doesn't switcht between anything,.. is there some custom setting that needs to be in place? (the "filter customization" consits of holind L1 and pressting the X, O, triagle & square buttons)

otherwise, if I lockon "light" with the d-pad (not need for holding L1/autorun.., I must have changed some setting..??), and then press X, ...like you said, before using a skill, I can hard lock switch on to that enemy

(but it really only works, if you didn't use any skill, otherwise you have to "unlock manually" from the first.. or use the L2/R2&L1/L2 swithing trick...)

eitherway, it's a good reminder/tip, that before useing a skill, you can swtich hard locks like that too
(and I'm slowly getting used to L2&R2/L1&R1 hard swithing too .., the controlles really are good, and you really just need getting used too them, once you know some of the finessen...)

You should not need to set any settings up, but if you attack 2 monsters at the same time you will notice an enemy list appears that shows both enemy names. Holding L1 and pressing up/down cycles through that list. It's helpful in fights with a lot of adds where you're trying to target/kill specific ones first rather than aoeing.

ah yes, of course, that "list"..., now I get it... and you can switch between those too by holind L1 and up/down on the digipad...

true, when there's a ton of enemies on the screen, it's very practical to use that list for switching (instead of trying to "see" through those hords ...), thanx again!
