Internet service providers charging for premium access hold us all to ransom

Article from The Guardian about the new FCC rules, basically they've killed net neutrality in the US.
I too was thinking this could be cause of many US players suffering lag and slow speeds as I dont suffer any over in my part of the UK or at least its very rare.

Perhaps our American friends can convince their telecommunications regulator to do its job, I say that in a none sarcastic way, just perhaps enough protest and complaints might make them do something. Personally I hope OFCOM (UK regulator) doesnt allow anything like that ever over here, we have patchy internet in some places as it is lol.

That's because in America, Internet access is still treated as a commodity instead of a utility, even though 90% of the modern world is as dependent on it as indoor plumbing.

Hmm the source is Level3 and they not naming names. This is the same company that makes this game terrible to play. Until they show actual proof I don't believe it.

This explains a lot actually. If the big ISPs such as Verizon and Comcast/Time Warner are throttling speeds or imposing caps on data transfers after so much bandwidth has been used, it's no wonder people have been seeing as much lag as they have in game. Level3 is just a CDN (content delivery network) and only function to interconnect the major ISP networks with each other. Once traffic which seems like it's functioning normally leaves your ISP and hits Level3, the big ISPs are shrinking their "pipe" on how much data can flow, which essentially slows down EVERYTHING.

TLDR: Blame Netflix for having all its subscribers streaming content since their network traffic accounts for over half of the data transferred over the internet now. :P

I'll drink to that, as 4/5 of my data usage for the month is my fiance streaming over Netflix.
